Role Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support data centers and all associated servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, ensuring continual access to cloud services. We seek talented individuals to solve challenging problems impacting the supply chain and infrastructure.

Team and Responsibilities

You’ll join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Your role involves collaborating across teams to uphold safety, security, and cost-efficiency standards. Within AIS and Data Center Engineering, the Mechanical Solutions team innovates in Mechanical Cooling and Controls systems, significantly impacting operational and financial efficiencies. Your responsibilities include engaging with and leading product lifecycle engineering for these solutions, supporting Mechanical infrastructure in AWS data centers, and collaborating with development teams from design to operational support.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide engineering recommendations based on strong judgment and data analysis.
  2. Review, update, and approve equipment submittals.
  3. Coordinate with global suppliers and manufacturers.
  4. Build and maintain stakeholder relationships across reliability, operations, and design teams.
  5. Manage multiple projects across various geographic zones.
  6. Explain complex systems clearly and concisely.
  7. Support operations through failure analysis, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures.
  8. Gather customer feedback for product improvements.
  9. Design and oversee product improvements with suppliers and manufacturers.
  10. Contribute to global knowledge and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

Basic:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in Mechanical or Mechanical Cooling Product development and production.
  • Experience with cooling systems or components.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of data center architectures and industry trends.
  • Experience designing manufacturing automation and instrumentation schematics.
  • Leadership, problem-solving skills, and dependability.
  • Experience with data center design or operation.
  • Ability to develop new design strategies.
Additional Information

Intermittent travel (~30%) required, including domestic and international trips. Compensation ranges from $128,600 to $212,800 annually, based on location and experience.
