Job summary

Allison Transmission is seeking a Product Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Indianapolis, IN. The role offers hands-on experience across transmission development, calibration, and embedded systems with a dedicated mentor and cross-functional collaboration.

Students work on a defined engineering project, committing to a minimum of 10 weeks, while gaining exposure to drivability, fuel economy, and system integration within a global leader in automotive propulsion.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a 4-year engineering program or similar.
• Strong desire to learn about automotive engineering roles and work in a team.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to development activities to improve drivability and fuel economy.
• Participate in transmission calibration and integration with engine/vehicle systems.
• Collaborate with departments to improve existing products and design new technologies.
• Assist in developing specifications, analyzing data, and reporting results.
• Interface with customers and OEMs to tailor calibrations to needs.
• Work with technicians to set up and operate test devices and measurement tools.
• Present project results with technical analysis to management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
