Job summary

Howmet Aerospace is seeking a Product Engineer to support the Ti-Cast operation in Plant 5 at Whitehall, MI. You will drive process control, cost reduction programs and ensure product integrity with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities include developing work instructions, maintaining job-cost knowledge, and implementing profitability plans while collaborating with production and suppliers on technical issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.

  • Implements and reviews process design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards and customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Supports activities concerned with technical development, cost reduction programs and in resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
  • Prepares interim and completion project report, as necessary.
  • Provides technical support for assigned coating, brazing and/or manufacturing area of assignment.
  • Interfaces with production personnel regarding all processing requirements and interacts with suppliers and customers on technical issues.
  • Performs process quality investigations as required.
  • Develops and implements process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Designs tools and fixtures pertinent to processing.
  • Generates material requisitions to initiate procurement.
  • Translates customer requirements into usable work instructions and interface with customer on technical issues.
  • Reviews purchase orders, specifications and blueprints for impact.
  • Assembles data packages for customer approval.
  • Specifies processing and generates work instructions.
  • Actively pursues elimination of waste, the improvement of equipment reliability and efficiency, and the reduction of operating costs and employs statistical methods as necessary.

Responsibilities

his Product Engineer position will be located in our Plant 5, Ti-Cast operation and will support manufacturing through process control, improvement initiatives, and assume direct responsibility for integrity for assigned products. This position will also establish and maintain external & internal customer associate documents; prepare part specific work instructions; maintain knowledge of job cost; and develop/implement appropriate plans to improve profitability.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution in the following disciplines preferred: Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial
  • Experience working in a Casting environment
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing environment or lab environment
  • Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Able to work in a self-directed or team environment and have good organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, statistical analysis, and scientific methods for problem solving
