Job summary

MACOM is seeking an Engineering Intern to join the Product Engineering team in Newport Beach, CA. You will work on hands-on characterization of semiconductor products, developing plans and programs, and presenting data from production tests.

The role provides exposure to full characterization lifecycle, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and opportunities to learn from experienced engineers during a 12‑week program. Relevant coursework and lab experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum B.S. in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • Proficient in using lab equipment for troubleshooting.
  • Basic understanding of schematic and PCB layout review.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrate project management skills.

This internship offers hands-on experience in solving real-world engineering challenges, contributing to active projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Intern will gain exposure to the full product characterization lifecycle and have the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers.**During the 12 weeks each Intern will:**• Be given an individual and well-defined project with set outcome goals• Gain hands on experience• Receive excellent training and ongoing supervision• Be invited to attend an intern webinar series• Attend networking/social events• Attend and present at Poster Session about each Interns project successes and pitfalls• Receive formal, written feedback**Role Overview:**• Developing Product Characterization Plan• Creating Characterization Program• Characterization Data Analysis and presentation• Production test specifications• ATE and probe data analysis and presentation**Qualifications:**• Minimum B.S. in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.• Proficient in using lab equipment for troubleshooting.• Basic understanding of schematic and PCB layout review.• Familiarity with statistical analysis tools and techniques.• Demonstrate project management skills**Skills:**• Hands-on experience with Lab Equipment including VNA, Spectrum Analyzer, Digital and Real-Time Oscilloscope, Power Supply, Signal generator etc.• Understanding of hardware troubleshooting techniques• C# or C++ programming experience• Good communication and organizational skills• Ability to work closely and coordinate activities with other functional groups• Must have excellent analytical and technical skills to find and present any product related issue to the teamThe Hourly Range for this position is $20 – $47 per hour. Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates’ experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
