Job summary

Vets Hired is seeking a Product Engineer III to lead cross-functional product development from concept to production. You will apply DFM/DFA principles, develop 3D CAD models and BOMs, and validate designs with rigorous testing to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of product or mechanical engineering experience.
  • Experience leading products from concept through production.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and PDM/PLM systems.
  • Knowledge of metal, plastic, wood materials and structural design.
  • Experience with DFM, DFA, Lean Manufacturing and Value Engineering.
  • Strong analytical and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience with furniture or consumer products and global manufacturing is preferred.

Job Summary

The Product Engineer III is responsible for designing, developing, and launching innovative products from concept through production. This role applies advanced engineering principles to create manufacturable, cost-effective, and high-quality products while collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve product performance, manufacturing efficiency, and continuous innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead new product development (NPI) projects from concept through production.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Value Engineering principles.
  • Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and product specifications.
  • Perform structural analysis, FMEA, material selection, and product validation testing.
  • Support prototype builds, evaluate manufacturability, and implement design improvements.
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Customer Experience teams.
  • Support pilot production builds and resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Improve engineering documentation, design standards, and development processes.
  • Research new materials, construction methods, and product innovations.
  • Promote AI-driven engineering tools and continuous improvement initiatives.
