To drive the engineering and support the development and commercialization of Hoka & UGG's highly technical and franchise models, from brief hand-off to Tech 1 and Ready to Buy (RTB) approval, to elevate total builds in creating world-class performance footwear. Provide professional support and technical expertise, as well as Hoka & UGG brand-specific knowledge, to both US and Asia partners to support the brand’s seasonal and long-term goals.
Responsibilities:
OPERATIONS AND DELIVERY
- Collaborate with US & Asia Development, Engineering, Materials Development, and Compound teams during the Design stage to facilitate pattern, material, and component trials early in the development season.
- Identify potential risks through early collaboration and provide technical support to clarify issues before Tech-Pack hand-off.
- Analyze Tech-Packs and revisions to suggest alternatives in constructions, materials, costing, duty mitigation, etc., to US Development, Engineering, Materials Development, and PLMs/product Design teams.
- Support teardown and T1 meetings with Development, Material Development, Commercialization, Production, QA, and factory teams by offering improvement suggestions on patterns, mold processes, materials, manufacturing, costing, and performance.
- Partner with Development to diagnose fit/wear and commercialization issues, ensuring products are tested and proven for successful commercialization and mass production.
- Drive the execution of the Tech 1 sample process, ensuring T1 approval and on-time RTB for production purchase order release and hand-off.
- Collaborate with Commercialization and Production teams to develop manufacturing SOPs for sample and production processes.
COLLABORATION AND TEAM BUILDING
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members and factory partners to enhance technical competencies.
- Maintain effective relationships with peers, superiors, factories, and stakeholders, representing the company positively.
- Facilitate communication with US Development, Engineering, Design, Merchandising, and HOKA Asia departments to support decision-making and problem-solving.
- Build trust as a partner with Development, Commercialization, Material Development, QA, Production, US HQ, and Business Unit leaders.
PROCESSES AND BEST PRACTICES
- Identify product improvement opportunities and collaborate with Engineering Best Practices to implement construction standards and process improvements.
- Support brand initiatives to enhance fit, construction, material choices, and performance across product lines.
- Partner with Engineering Best Practices and Tier 2 suppliers on long-term scalable projects.
- Support the launch of construction best practices by category to ensure consistency in fit and performance.
- Establish and align processes, workloads, and deadlines to meet project deliverables.
TRAINING
- Travel as needed to factories, suppliers, and US HQ.
- Continuously evaluate new materials, technologies, and methods, sharing insights to improve products.
- Attend relevant training, workshops, and conferences to enhance technical skills.
