Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products based on input from marketing, customers, Operations Teams, Development Engineers, or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications, including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality and cost, while meeting customer requirements, and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer needs. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.

Responsibilities

Power

Responsible for being the FAE product expert for power connectors, bus bars, and cable assemblies, from market definition through production and release. This position must have complete knowledge of the Global Product Line (GPL) portfolio, tooling, and manufacturing processes. The engineer must advise on product extensions, feature modifications, and alternative interconnector solutions within DDN’s portfolio.


ICC

  • Responsible for being the FAE product expert for Internal Connector and Cable Assemblies, from market definition through production and release. This position must have complete knowledge of the GPL portfolio, tooling, and manufacturing processes. The engineer must advise on product extensions, feature modifications, and alternative solutions within DDN’s portfolio.
  • Responsible for product development of high-speed cable assemblies, power connectors, and power cable assemblies from market definition through production and release.
  • Work closely with customers and TE sales/SA/FAE/PM teams to gather VOC (voice of customer) and convert it into TE design concepts and specifications.
  • Conceive concepts and perform feasibility studies.
  • Run mechanical and thermal simulations.
  • Make engineering evaluations and proposals to customers.
  • Create detailed designs, including 2D/3D drawings, and perform DFMEA/tolerance analysis.
  • Build prototypes and perform validation tests.
  • Provide technical support to Operations, Quality, and Production teams for efficiency and safe product launches.
  • Resolve product issues, manage ECN/PCN processes.
  • Understand market and customer needs to bridge business engineering and customer engineering teams.
  • Maintain a system-level understanding of customer applications and product designs to meet customer expectations.
  • Provide technical support to customers, sales, PMs, and plant teams, including testing, troubleshooting, and verification.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and suppliers to meet technical, quality, and cost goals.
  • Document designs and changes thoroughly, including drawings, engineering notices, and design history files.
Background Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience with electrical components, mechanical design, manufacturing tooling, or process development.
  • Knowledge of socket, connector design, or related mechanical design areas.
  • Familiarity with switch and server equipment.
  • Understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, tolerances, DFMEA, and product qualification.
  • Proficiency in 3D design software (e.g., ProE, Spaceclaim).
  • Basic knowledge of raw materials, standards, and applications.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes like machining, molding, stamping, plating, and assembly.
  • Experience with quality tools such as FMEA, Six Sigma, DOE, 8D.
  • Ability to work across time zones and collaborate globally.
  • Open-minded, eager to learn, and motivated to grow.

Compensation

  • Base salary ranges from $86,100 to $129,200, depending on location and experience.
  • TE reserves the right to adjust salaries based on qualifications and internal equity.
  • Total compensation includes base salary, incentives, and benefits.
