An innovative company is seeking a skilled software engineer to join their remote team. This role focuses on enhancing user experiences for short-term rental hosts through the development of features in a Laravel-based product. You will collaborate closely with product managers and other engineers, bringing your expertise in PHP and MySQL to the table. With a strong emphasis on customer feedback and iterative improvement, you'll have the opportunity to make a significant impact in a supportive and dynamic environment. If you're passionate about building exceptional software and thrive in a remote setting, this position is perfect for you.
tldr; We build software for Airbnbs to rent themselves, with a state-of-the-art product and user experience.
We have crafted an Applicant Handbook, which we highly recommend you check out, where you can find out more about the company, culture, how we recruit, what we do, and how we do it: https://bit.ly/hsptblhndbk
We believe that everyone, no matter their background in work, life, culture or experiences has the ability to be exceptional. We seek exceptional people.
We are bold, like risks, and take on big challenges together. Our customers love the product, provide valuable feedback, and trust us to rapidly help them with more of their problems.
We are looking for candidates to work in our Core team on all the exciting things we have planned, you can read more about our team breakdowns and get an overview of what each team works on here: https://bit.ly/hsptblengr
Our Core team has some exciting spaces that have opened up as we continue to grow, we are looking for exceptional people to help in the following areas of our Core team:
Embedded Services: any time we deeply embed third-party services into our product, this is the team we turn to, right now this is working on smart devices. Smart devices today include smart locks and thermostats, enabling our hosts to offer smooth check-ins for their guests by provisioning and communicating lock codes and ensuring their properties are at the perfect temperature to welcome guests. Next up, we want to shake up the industry with our plans for dynamic pricing, offering the ability to optimize a host's nightly rate to ensure maximum occupancy.
Mogul: here we work on all the features that support our bigger customers, the property managers. Currently, we are delivering a world-class Owner Statements product. If you get your kicks from all things numbers, then this is the space for you. This role has a wide berth with touchpoints across our product, from making sure we have the best breakdown of financials for all our reservations across integrations (Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, etc.) to displaying those in meaningful ways in our Metrics product, and working on our newly released Owner Statements feature.
PMS: we've made huge strides in the past 9 months to truly become a PMS, focusing on the main core product. From managing properties to handling messaging in Guest Experience to organizing your team in Operations to managing the calendar, there is never a shortage of things to do here.
You will be an important part of our product and engineering team, focusing on shipping glorious experiences to our hosts.
Together with other software engineers and the product team, you will continue to evolve the product and work on our vision to make it trivial to operate a short-term rental.
Although this is a software engineering position, you will have a high degree of ownership and accountability over the product shaping process. This isn’t about dragging Jira tickets and programming what you’re told.
We are currently a fully-distributed team of 5 product managers, 18 backend engineers, and 4 frontend engineers. We're hiring for these roles to help us keep shipping at a high velocity and fill areas in the team that have opened up through growth.
After a few weeks of onboarding, you'll dive right into feature development; building, improving, and owning the experience that we deliver to hosts and their guests.
To accomplish this, you will:
As a team, we are all in on Laravel, and we are fortunate to have two Laravel community heavy-weights on our engineering team: Bobby Bouwmann and Tom Herrmann.
Our self-defined tech stack acronym is PALM-B; PHP, Angular, Laravel, MySQL, and Beanstalk.
Hospitable.com is a remote-only and distributed company. For this position, your location is not a requirement. The ideal fit would work under European timezones.
Don’t tick all the boxes? Talk to us about why you’re still an amazing fit. In the meantime, here’s what we’re paying attention to:
The company itself is also a product, one that we iterate on. We're always improving and creating an environment where we all love to work.
