Job description

An International Consumer Products Manufacture is currently looking for a Product Engineer in the Atlanta, GA area. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

• Design and/or develop new products that integrate market research and industry trends, while adhering to applicable codes, standards and cost targets, for global and domestic products.
• Review designs for ease of assembly and manufacturability and suggest improvements.
• Evaluate and test prototypes and/or first‑article samples to ensure quality and performance of finished products.
• Facilitate engineering changes to existing products to address market needs, enhance quality, and/or improve cost.
• Prepare, review and utilize technical drawings made to existing drafting standards.
• Assist quality and manufacturing teams to resolve inspection and/or production issues.
• Manage the production part approval process (PPAP).
• Identify and evaluate potential new vendors.
• Coordinate with approved suppliers regarding manufacturing and delivery of components and/or finished goods.
• Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) for new and existing products.
• Compile and present development progress and details according to the prescribed Design Review process.
• Conduct competitive research to monitor industry trends.
• Assist in the creation of product support materials such as packaging, installation/owner manuals, spare part sheets, and specification sheets.
• Other job duties are assigned as needed.
• While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to type for extended periods, sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk, and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision, as well as lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Ceramic.
• 3 years or more experience in product development is preferred.
• Experience with a 3D CAD package, preferably SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
• Basic working knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, casting, and forging.
• Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
