Job summary

Rebel Recruiting is looking for a backend engineer to build scalable services in a Berlin or Hamburg hybrid setup. You will own features end-to-end, collaborating closely with Product, Design and Frontend teams to deliver customer value at speed.

You should have several years of Java (ideally Kotlin) experience, a passion for distributed systems, and an interest in AI-assisted software engineering. This role offers a hybrid Germany work model and a competitive salary.

Your Mission

You build backend services that don't just work; they create measurable product value.

You take ownership of features from the initial idea through implementation, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.

You understand how your services interact with the wider platform and make technical decisions with the overall system in mind, not only your own code.

You work closely with Product, Design and Frontend Engineering to build scalable solutions that balance customer value, engineering quality and delivery speed.

You proactively identify opportunities for improvement, challenge technical decisions where appropriate and contribute to a culture of ownership, transparency and continuous learning.

You use AI engineering tools thoughtfully to accelerate learning, debugging, and problem-solving while always validating your own decisions.
