Job summary

Descript is seeking a senior product engineer to own meaningful surfaces end to end, from concept through measurement and maintenance. You will partner with Product and Design to create simpler, more powerful editor-like features and AI-enabled tools that scale with the product.

You will build across the stack with TypeScript, React, Node.js, Temporal, and API design, while focusing on measurable outcomes and clear user value. This is a hands-on role at Descript’s engineering core.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and shipping customer-facing products.
• Experience leveraging AI to amplify impact.
• End-to-end ownership from definition to maintenance.
• Ability to navigate complex product and technical landscapes.

Responsibilities

• Own meaningful product surfaces end to end, from definition through design, implementation, launch, measurement, and maintenance.
• Collaborate with Product and Design to propose better interactions and expose constraints.
• Build and integrate full-stack systems across TypeScript, React, Node.js, and APIs.
• Improve team learning, instrumentation, and release practices to move quickly with quality.
• Provide architectural direction and mentorship while writing clear, human-focused documentation.
