Job summary

Magna Exteriors is seeking a Product Engineer to develop and launch new exterior product programs. You will apply engineering principles to design and develop components and assemblies, guiding material choices and manufacturing feasibility.

The role focuses on process and product development, prototype tooling, and collaboration with program management, engineering teams, and OEM stakeholders to meet project goals and quality standards.

Qualifications

• BS degree in related field is required or equivalent experience.
• 1 to 3 years of diversified engineering experience preferred.
• Physical Demands/Work Environment described as normal office and shop environment with potential travel.

Responsibilities

• Support program management in product and process development including prototype tooling and builds.
• Create & execute goals, timing and cost for projects.
• Communicate/coordinate projects between program management, engineering, customer representatives and corporate representative.
• Assist in material procurement and support for prototype build operations.
• Identify design work and create design specifications for complex product components to improve feasibility and cost.
• Analyze complex design problems and derive engineering conclusions using engineering and mathematical principles.
• Consult with engineering staff on design, drafting, and experimental construction of product components.
• Provide technical support and follow-up on Design/Product Validation activities.
• Travel as necessary to support Division and OEM launch activities or part development.

Job Responsibilities: The Product Engineer applies engineering principles and analytical techniques to the design and/or development of product concepts, components, or assemblies. The Product Engineer will be responsible for process, material and product development targeted toward development and launch of new product programs for Magna Exteriors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support program management in product and process development including prototype tooling and builds.
• Create & execute goals, timing and cost for project(s).
• Communicate/coordinate projects between program management, engineering, customer representatives and corporate representative.
• Assist in material procurement and support for prototype build operations in coordination with divisional resources.
• Identifies design work and creates design specifications for a variety of complex product components to obtain operational, cost, quality, and/or manufacturing feasibility improvements.
• Analyzes complex design problems and formulates engineering conclusions by the application of engineering and/or mathematical principles.
• Consults with personnel in various engineering activities relative to the design, drafting, and experimental construction of product components.
• Provides technical support and follow-up on Design/Product Validation activities.
• Travel as necessary to support Division and OEM launch activities or part development.
• Provides engineering direction and support to design personnel.
• Responsible for implementation of Customer Specific Requirement per OEM as required.
• Refer to Quality per QSR handbook on the E&I web.
• Create and maintain DFMEA, DVP, Open Issue Lists and Timelines as required.
• Support requests of program management as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education/Special Knowledge/Skills – BS degree in related field, or equivalent job experience preferred.

• Physical Demands/Work Environment - Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer, may require travel.
