Position Overview
This company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to support a high-visibility product rebranding initiative within the Transducer Engineering department. This role will focus on implementing engineering changes, updating technical documentation, coordinating product rework activities, and supporting continuous improvement efforts to ensure products meet new branding requirements while maintaining engineering and manufacturing standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer looking to gain hands-on experience in product engineering, engineering change management, manufacturing support, and cross-functional project coordination within a collaborative engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the execution of the company-wide product rebranding initiative for the Transducer Engineering department.
- Identify existing inventory requiring rework through stock sorting activities.
- Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and update engineering documentation to reflect new branding requirements.
- Coordinate rework activities with Production and the Machine Shop to ensure timely implementation.
- Update mechanical drawings, tolerances, and related engineering documentation as required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce manufacturing costs and improve product and process efficiency.
- Maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawings, and configuration management documentation.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, and Quality teams to successfully complete project objectives.
- Assist with project tracking and prioritization to meet aggressive project timelines.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
Experience
- 0-2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Internship or co-op experience in manufacturing or product engineering is welcomed.
- Experience supporting engineering documentation or engineering change processes is a plus.
Required Skills
- Proficiency with SolidWorks or another 3D CAD software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project coordination abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Root Cause Analysis experience.
- Machining knowledge and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) experience.
- Experience with ERP systems (Visual Manufacturing or similar).
- Experience with PLM systems such as Omnify or Agile.
- Experience using EPDM or similar document management software.
- Working knowledge of:
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Configuration management
