Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of automotive engineering and design experience.
  • Proficiency in CATIA V5 and DFMEA processes.
  • Experience with GD&T, DOE, FMEA, and CAD tools.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full product lifecycle from concept through prototype and production.
  • Lead design reviews and ensure interfaces meet specifications.
  • Mentor junior engineers and guide cross-functional teams (Quality, Sales, PM).
  • Develop testing protocols and specification documents for client needs.
  • Collaborate with vendors and clients to optimize manufacturing processes and costs.
  • Drive root-cause analysis and permanent corrective actions for issues.
  • Produce and review 3D models, drawings, and design documentation.

You will take ownership of the full product lifecycle, from initial creative brainstorming and system design to the final development of innovative solutions. It is essential that every project you lead aligns with our rigorous quality benchmarks, performance targets, and client expectations. Beyond design, you will act as a primary technical authority, offering guidance to cross-functional departments like sales and manufacturing, while serving as a key point of contact for external partners throughout the entire production cycle.

Primary Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Create innovative product concepts that align with our strategic business goals.
  • Assess the viability of new ideas by utilizing sophisticated analytical methodologies.
  • Ensure design integrity by verifying interfaces through detailed statistical analysis and design studies.
  • Establish comprehensive testing protocols and specifications that reflect specific client needs.
  • Cultivate and sustain productive, long-term partnerships with our key client contacts.
  • Oversee the end-to-end process of prototype construction and product validation.
  • Provide expert technical guidance to internal teams, including Quality, Sales, and Program Management, to ensure project success.
  • Produce, update, and review 3D models, technical drawings, and design documentation.
  • Drive the identification of root causes and the implementation of permanent solutions for quality issues or test failures to improve overall product reliability.
  • Collaborate with vendors and clients to spearhead cost-saving initiatives and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Foster a collaborative workplace culture that supports our long-term organizational vision.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and technical staff to elevate the collective expertise of the team.
  • Direct benchmarking initiatives to keep our products competitive in the marketplace.
  • Handle additional responsibilities as the needs of the business evolve.

Educational Background

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.

Professional Expertise

  • Comprehensive understanding of our internal product lines and operational workflows.
  • Deep proficiency in standard engineering methodologies, including GD&T, DOE, FMEA, DFM, and CAD software.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience within the automotive engineering and design sector.
  • Expertise in product design and development cycles.
  • Advanced proficiency in CATIA V5 software.
  • Ability to utilize and interpret data from CAE simulation tools.
  • Strong grasp of quality management systems and DFMEA processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of various manufacturing techniques.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven capability to lead and mentor team members.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective project management capabilities.
