Job summary

Air Distribution Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Product Engineer II to design and improve commercial air distribution products, using SolidWorks and VBA to automate documentation and deliverables.

You will collaborate with product managers, clients, and manufacturing engineers to optimize designs and support documentation throughout development. In this role you will develop models, drawings, and BOMs for special requests, drive product improvements, and participate in committees to stay

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 3+ years of related engineering and SolidWorks experience; HVAC knowledge preferred.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, VBA, MS Office; familiarity with ANSYS CFD, AutoCAD, Revit.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and ability to communicate with stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% to manufacturing locations for startup and audits.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop parts, assemblies, and drawings in SolidWorks; automate file creation with VBA.
  • Manage engineering data using SolidWorks PDM with version control and accuracy.
  • Develop models and drawings for special requests and obtain approvals from stakeholders.
  • Create/update drawings and BOMs; respond to ECNs and review CAPA/Deviations.
  • Generate technical reports and performance illustrations; define operating characteristics.
  • Lead project schedules with phase-gate processes; monitor status and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to maintain design specs, reduce waste, and improve processes.

Job description

Air Distribution Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Product Engineer II. The Product Engineer II will design and improve commercial air distribution products, ensuring top-tier performance and reliability. This role will use SolidWorks and engineering principles to create innovative solutions that meet client and production needs while driving efficiency and excellence.

What You’ll Do
  • Design & Development
    • Create parts, assemblies, and drawings in SolidWorks, leveraging VBA to automate file creation and streamline documentation.
    • Manage engineering data using SolidWorks PDM, ensuring accuracy and version control.
    • Develop and finalize models and drawings for special product requests, collaborating with Product Managers, clients, and manufacturing engineers for approvals.
  • Documentation & Product Support
    • Create and update drawings and BOMs for missing or outdated product documentation, managing files efficiently in SolidWorks PDM.
    • Respond to Engineering Change Requests by releasing drawing and modeling packages on schedule.
    • Review Corrective Action and Deviation Requests from production facilities, recommending corrective actions.
    • Generate technical reports, graphs, and marketing illustrations to define/illustrate system performance and operating characteristics.
  • Collaboration & Project Management
    • Develop and Manage product design schedules using the phase-gate process, ensuring timely delivery and continuous improvement of engineering procedures.
    • Create and monitor project status reports
    • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and plants to ensure design specifications are maintained, streamline and lean out production standards and processes, reduce waste, and recommend design improvements.
    • Answer technical questions from clients, OEM representatives, and manufacturing engineers at production facilities about products to ensure seamless HVAC system integration
  • Analysis & Testing
    • Test and/or evaluate software or firmware used by engineering.
    • Initiate and oversee prototype/ test model development and analyze laboratory data to drive product improvements and innovation.
    • Test, evaluate, and compare competitor’s products, materials, designs, performance and application.
  • Leadership
    • Mentor designers and junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment
    • Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in technology, tools, and resources. This may include participation in AMCA, UL, DOE, ASHRAE, and AHRI committees.
    • Follow and comply with company work and safety rules.
What We Look For
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering from an accredited four-year College or University
  • 3+ years of related engineering and SolidWorks experience is required.Knowledge and experience with HVAC systems and manufacturing processes is preferred.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, VBA, MS Office, and familiarity with tools like ANSYS CFD, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Revit.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle practical issues and interpret varied instructions in written, oral, or diagram form, even in situations with limited standardization.
  • Proficient in applying algebra, geometry, and physics to solve engineering and financial calculations.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, present information clearly, and effectively communicate and influence stakeholders.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time to respective manufacturing locations for product start-up, quality audits, and follow up on the production of products
Preferred
  • Three years of hands-on and practical engineering experience in HVAC is preferred.
  • Experience with ANSYS CFD/FEA, Autodesk Revit, VBA programming, Phase-Gate development processes, project management, DFMA, FMEA, LabView, AS400, sheet metal forming and fabrication, air movement principles, and fan/blower laws are a plus.

  • The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration.
