Job summary

Maverick Power in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Product Engineer to bridge manufacturing and design, focusing on panelboards, switchboards, and switchgear. You will create BOMs, develop drawings, and explore alternative components using design for manufacturability.

This role requires knowledge across electrical, mechanical, and quality disciplines, strong problem solving, and collaboration with engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Electrical/Mechanical engineering degree or military equivalent.
  • 2+ years manufacturing experience.
  • Experience interpreting electrical schematic drawings.
  • Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact with engineering and manufacturing personnel.
  • Working knowledge of UL 891, UL 67, UL 1558, UL 508A, IEEE/ANSI C37, NEC/NFPA 70E standards.
  • Knowledge of low voltage switchboard / switchgear design and installation.
  • Knowledge of codes governing installation of low voltage switchgear.
  • Ability to interpret basic electrical diagrams including front elevation, one-line, and schematic drawings.
  • Excellent problem resolution skills.

Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison between production and engineering troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Support manufacturing, testing, quality and field service to ensure proper design implementation.
  • Review mechanical and electrical designs using 3D CAD for power distribution for accuracy.
  • Provide feedback to design engineers on mechanical and electrical designs.
  • Collaborate with design engineers on new product developments.
  • Support Field Service during installation, commissioning and troubleshooting remotely and onsite.
  • Interpret customer bid drawings, diagrams, plans, and specifications.
  • Review orders, drawings, and BOMs prior to order release.
  • Provide technical support for Maverick standard products to customers.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

About the Role:

The Product Engineer will be the liaison between manufacturing and design engineering. Knowledge of panelboards, switchboards and switchgear, creating bills of materials, developing drawings, seeking alternative components, helping production and other engineering related activities. Utilize ‘design for manufacturing’ principles to reduce system complexity and build time. Your work will be exciting and varied working on projects which require knowledge of applications, electrical/electronics, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and safety. Never a dull day, and always a challenging problem to solve in a collaborative, goal focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Point of contact between production and engineering troubleshooting and resolving issues that may arise.
  • Support Maverick’s manufacturing, testing, quality, and field service teams to ensure proper implementation of designs.
  • Review mechanical and electrical designs using 3D CAD software for power distribution for correctness and adherence to proper UL Standard.
  • Provide feedback to design engineers as needed on mechanical and electrical designs.
  • Work side‑by‑side with design engineering team on new product developments.
  • Support Field Service during installation, commissioning and troubleshooting both remotely as well as onsite as required.
  • Interpret customer bid package drawings, electrical one-line diagrams, plan layouts and specifications.
  • Support the manufacture of Maverick standard products by reviewing orders, drawings, and ERP bills of material prior to order release.
  • Provide technical support for Maverick standard products to both internal and external customers.
  • Performs other job‑related duties as necessary or assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of applicable Electrical Technical School OR Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering OR Military equivalent for 5 years.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, 2 years minimum.
  • Experience interpreting electrical schematic drawings.
  • Strong problem solving & interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact with engineering and manufacturing personnel.
  • Working knowledge of UL 891, UL 67, UL 1558, UL 508A, IEEE/ANSI C37, and NEC/NFPA 70E standards.
  • Knowledge of low voltage switchboard (UL891)/ switchgear design (UL1558)/panelboard (UL67), installation, and use.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal codes governing the installation and use of low voltage switchgear.
  • Ability to interpret basic electrical diagrams including front elevation, one-line, and schematic drawings.
  • Excellent problem resolution skills.
  • Must comply with all company policies.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to twenty-five pounds at times.
Work Environment:

May work in various settings at the Maverick Power facilities, in offices, in multiple shops, and in commercial buildings. Maintaining the same position or posture while performing tasks and sitting for prolonged periods.
