Overview
Serve as a Product Engineer, with a primary focus on leading new product development from concept through prototype, validation, and production launch. Report to Director of Engineering and Work cross-functionally with the Operations, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Sales, and other stakeholders to define project scope, build timelines, manage risks, and move development work through key decisions and deliverables. Use DFMA, Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement principles to ensure new products are practical to manufacture, cost effective, well documented, and aligned with customer and business needs.

Responsibilities
- Partner with the Director of Engineering to design, redesign, and improve products and features that better support operations, manufacturability, and customer requirements.
- Apply DFMA principles to current and future products to improve ease of manufacturing, assembly, quality, and cost.
- Review existing product lines for cost reduction, simplification, and rationalization opportunities.
- Own and maintain accurate design documentation, including CAD drawings, specifications, bills of material, website content, installation instructions, troubleshooting guides, and related technical materials.
- Ensure product designs meet applicable customer specifications, internal standards, regulatory requirements, and defined testing criteria.
- Lead new product development projects from concept through prototype, validation, and production launch.
- Create and maintain project plans, timelines, deliverables, and cross-functional action items for assigned development work.
- Coordinate with Sales, Process Engineers, Operations, Quality, and other stakeholders to align project scope, timing, risks, and launch requirements.
- Identify and support new manufacturing technologies that help improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and other company KPIs.
- Communicate project status, risks, decisions needed, and next steps clearly to leadership and cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- Experience creating clear, simple, and accurate instructions, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Strong communication skills with internal teams, external customers, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Proficiency with 3D parametric design software such as Inventor, Creo, or SolidWorks.
- Experience using AutoCAD.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
- High attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, professional, and error-free work on schedule.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment while independently managing assigned priorities.
- Familiarity with engineering design processes, including concept development, physical design, procurement support, testing, failure root cause analysis, and PPAP.
