Job description

Product Engineer – Financial Technology Platforms

The Product Engineer serves as a strategic, hands‑on technical product leader responsible for the end‑to‑end technical execution of core financial products built on third‑party technology platforms. This role integrates deep technical expertise with business strategy—owning the technical product roadmap, understanding solution architecture and how each product fits within a broader enterprise ecosystem, proactively identifying and resolving technical issues, and partnering with business units to drive measurable operational efficiencies.

The Product Engineer also supports business teams in developing training and adoption strategies that accelerate value realization, manages the lifecycle of technical solutions supporting the product, and embeds resiliency and operational risk practices to ensure continuity and rapid recovery when disruptions occur.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical realization of financial products built on external vendor platforms, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and long‑term technology strategy.
  • Own and maintain the technical product roadmap, translating business priorities into actionable technical plans.
  • Diagnose and remediate technical issues, ensuring stable, secure, and reliable product performance.
  • Partner with business units to identify efficiency opportunities, streamline workflows, and enhance product adoption.
  • Support development of training and enablement materials that help business teams maximize product value.
  • Manage lifecycle activities—including enhancements, upgrades, integrations, and decommissioning—to maintain product health and relevance.
  • Embed business resiliency and operational risk practices, ensuring preparedness for incidents and rapid recovery when disruptions occur.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional technology teams to ensure cohesive delivery, architectural consistency, and adherence to governance standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Product Ownership & Strategy
  • Lead the technical strategy and roadmap for assigned products, partnering with product management to define measurable outcomes tied to revenue enablement, cost efficiency, risk reduction, and user experience improvements.
  • Translate technical objectives into epics, features, and user stories; maintain a prioritized backlog and drive iterative delivery across vendor partners and internal technology and security teams.
  • Define and track technical KPIs/OKRs such as uptime, SLA adherence, defect trends, and performance indicators.
Problem Identification & Continuous Improvement
  • Implement telemetry across platforms to capture usage analytics, error rates, latency, and SLA compliance; establish alerting mechanisms and operational dashboards.
  • Lead technical root‑cause analysis and defect triage, implementing corrective actions, regression testing, and preventive controls.
  • Conduct post‑release technical reviews and retrospectives, converting insights into backlog items and platform enhancements.
Business Partnership & Efficiency Optimization
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to map technical workflows, identify pain points, assess control gaps, and understand regulatory obligations.
  • Design and pilot technical solutions that streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and consolidate redundant tools.
  • Document updated operating procedures, handoffs, and control points; track realized benefits such as cycle‑time reduction and error‑rate improvements.
Technical Roadmap Management & Upgrade Planning
  • Maintain a forward‑looking 12–24‑month technical roadmap balancing innovation, technical debt remediation, compliance, performance, and user experience.
  • Plan and execute upgrades, migrations, and dependency changes—including APIs, data platforms, identity services, and cloud components—while managing change control and release governance.
  • Partner with enterprise architecture and security teams to ensure alignment with standards, patterns, and reference architectures.
Product Consolidation & Technology Rationalization
  • Inventory single‑use and overlapping technologies to evaluate total cost of ownership, risk exposure, and user experience fragmentation.
  • Recommend consolidation strategies—feature parity, phased migration, coexistence models—and lead execution, cutover planning, and decommissioning activities.
Business Resiliency, Risk & Compliance
  • Embed resiliency requirements into technical design, including RTO/RPO targets, failover patterns, backup/restore processes, and dependency mapping.
  • Own technical business continuity and disaster recovery documentation; lead exercises such as tabletop simulations, failover events, and restore tests, tracking readiness metrics.
  • Partner with risk, compliance, and audit teams to ensure appropriate control coverage across access management, change management, logging, and segregation of duties.
  • Manage SOX‑significant system responsibilities when applicable, including control design, evidence collection, walkthroughs, testing, and remediation.
Delivery Governance & Stakeholder Management
  • Manage vendor relationships, SLAs, and compliance obligations associated with third‑party technology solutions.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
