Job summary

ODRA Road Sweepers is seeking a Product Engineer to drive design, development, and continuous improvement of chassis-mounted sweepers. You will work with international engineering teams, production, purchasing, and service to deliver innovative products from concept through field support.

The role requires a mechanical engineering background, 5+ years of experience, and proficiency in SolidWorks. Hybrid work is available in Grand Forks, ND.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of product engineering or mechanical design in manufacturing.
  • Experience with chassis-mounted bodies, construction, or AG equipment is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
  • Experience managing ECNs, BOMs, ERP systems, and engineering documentation control.

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement of existing products through design modifications and validation.
  • Collaborate with international teams to develop new products from concept to production.
  • Support engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities and assist with field issue troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical product expertise to Sales and Marketing and coordinate ECNs with Ops and Purchasing.
  • Investigate quality issues with root-cause analysis and implement CAPA.
  • Support facility-related engineering projects and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Product Engineer

Reporting to: Chief Operations Officer

Location: 705 S 48th Street, Grand Forks, ND

Position Summary

The Product Engineer plays a key role in the design, development, and continuous improvement of ODRA Road Sweepers' products from concept through product launch and field support. Working collaboratively with international engineering design teams, production, purchasing and service, this position drives product innovation, resolves technical challenges, and improves product performance, quality and reliability.

Responsibilities
Product Design & Development
  • Drive the continuous improvement of existing products through design modifications, engineering analysis, and product validation.
  • Collaborate with international engineering teams to develop new products and components through:
    • Concept development and design
    • Prototype evaluation
    • Design validation
    • Production testing and implementation
  • Support engineering drawing revisions, bill of materials, and technical documentation.
Cross-Functional Engineering Support
  • Coordinate engineering activities across functions to ensure successful project execution.
  • Partner with Purchasing to develop technical specifications, evaluate suppliers, and support sourcing activities.
  • Partner with Design Engineering, Production Engineering and Operations to investigate and resolve product quality issues.
  • Assist Service with field issue troubleshooting and repair guidance.
  • Provide technical product expertise to Sales and Marketing.
Engineering Change Management
  • Coordinate Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) with Operations and Purchasing.
  • Update engineering drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure engineering changes are reviewed, communicated, and implemented throughout the organization.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Investigate product quality and reliability issues using structured root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve product performance, manufacturability, quality, and cost competitiveness.
Engineering Project Support
  • Support facility design and improvement projects including cranes, vehicle lifting systems, and structural modifications.
  • Ensure engineering solutions comply with applicable safety, operational, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with Production Engineering and Operations on facility-related engineering initiatives as required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of product engineering or mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment, servicing of chassis mounted bodies, construction, or AG equipment.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
  • Experience managing engineering changes (ECNs), bill of materials (BOMs), ERP systems, engineering document control and configuration management.
  • Strong mechanical design, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to work effectively in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and mentor staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing heavy equipment, mobile machinery, agricultural, construction, or industrial equipment.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
  • Experience with FEA or engineering analysis tools.
