Job summary

Jobtailor in New York, NY is seeking a fashion merchandising/product development intern to support sample preparation and coordination across departments.

You will assist with fit samples, lab dips, CADs, and maintaining sample closets, while learning garment fit and fabrics. Office presence required two full days weekly.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in a 4-year Bachelor’s degree program in Fashion Merchandising, Product Development, or Manufacturing.
  • Team player with the ability to handle a fast-paced work environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and multitask.
  • Strong communication, time-management, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient computer skills – MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook.
  • Must be able to work in-office at least two full days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Take initiative & familiarize yourself with company categories/styles.
  • Open and distribute packages from factories.
  • Distribute and sign in new fit samples to fit department, showing fit samples to PD and Design.
  • Attend fittings to learn how garment fit, fabrics, styling, and related factors affect price and delivery.
  • Send lab dips, strike-offs, and PP comments to factories; enter into product maintenance screen for each PO and file into books.
  • Send new order CADs to sales, design, or PD teams as directed by the PD person.
  • Work with graphics to update hang tags, call-outs, hangers, photos, and packing methods as directed by the PD person.
  • Help prepare for customer and market appointments by assembling samples, requesting samples from factories, and returning them afterward.
  • Maintain customer closets for all brands and category sample racks as needed.
  • Be flexible to work on special or rush projects as required.
