Job summary

Douglas Dynamics is seeking a Product Development Engineer to design and develop mechanical components for Commercial Snow & Ice products. You will collaborate across teams to meet customer requirements, safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.

Responsibilities include drawing interpretation, prototype testing, BOM/ECN management, and supporting production improvements. Strong emphasis on DFMEA, PFMEA, and Kaizen for cost reduction and quality gains.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 0-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with shop floor exposure.
  • Experience with DFMEA, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, or Control Plans.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and validate mechanical components and systems for snow and ice products.
  • Read, interpret, and apply electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings and specs.
  • Create and maintain BOMs, ECNs, and assembly drawings to company standards.
  • Support production improvements and resolve complex manufacturing problems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality, safety, and cost goals.
  • Use 3P, 5S, DFMEA, PFMEA, and Kaizen tools to reduce waste and launch new products.
