Job summary

Ford is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and release automotive systems and components in alignment with GPDS milestones. You will lead cross-functional teams to resolve design, manufacturing, and quality issues and translate requirements into precise targets and specifications.

The role requires strong communication skills, MS Office proficiency, and experience with Six Sigma, FMEA, PPAP, and GD&T. Travel to plants and suppliers is expected.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical engineering or related field; MS preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic team.
• Prior design and release experience is preferred.
• Experience with Six Sigma, 8D, and 3‑legged 5 Whys preferred.
• Knowledge of GD&T, PPAP, and APQP principles preferred.
• FMEAs, Control Plans, and SCCAFs experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and release systems, subsystems, and components meeting program requirements and timing.
• Lead or support resolution of design, manufacturing, quality, and launch issues.
• Translate customer, regulatory, and product requirements into engineering targets, drawings, and specifications.
• Plan, coordinate, execute, and analyze verification testing against targets.
• Direct and guide suppliers through CPMT meetings to meet objectives.
• Analyze customer feedback and implement improvements to prevent recurrence.
• Lead or support TVM cost reduction activities.
• Travel to Ford plants and supplier sites for issue resolution and build support.
