Job summary

Ford in the United States is seeking a PD Engineer to own brake NVH development for assigned programs. You will lead a team of suppliers, CAE, D&R and brake engineers to meet Ford requirements, coordinating CAE to final sign-off across dynos and vehicles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or similar.
  • 2+ years of NVH CAE and/or foundation brake component experience.
  • 1+ years of CAD experience.

In this position... You will be responsible for delivering the brake NVH performance for the program(s) you are assigned to. In your role as a noise champion, you will lead a team of suppliers, CAE, D&R and brake development engineers to develop the brake NVH attribute to meet Ford requirements. NVH development at Ford is tied to GPDS timing. We start with CAE in the UNV0-2 phases, progress to dyno testing on the corner dynamometers at TPV and continue to final signoff on DCV vehicles for PEC.

  • The PD Engineer is responsible for managing product release CAD and BOM structures, including assembly positioning and mass attribute analysis. This role also includes facilitating supplier data integration and developing CAD studies to support and drive design improvements.
  • The PD Engineer is expected to understand and effectively utilize product check-in/check-out processes, version control, data release, and change management within Ford’s PLM ecosystem.
  • The PD Engineer will perform feasibility analyses using CAD tools, including draft angle analysis, undercut detection, minimum bend radius validation for sheet metal, and clearance checks to support manufacturing and machining requirements.

You'll have...

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar.

2+ years of NVH CAE and/or foundation brake component experience.

1+ years of CAD experience.

Even better, you may have...

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar.
  • Experience with Brake NVH dyno and vehicle testing preferred.
  • Experience in supplier management.
  • Experience with complex systems, analysis tools & methods.
  • Experience using Teamcenter (TcE) and/or 3DX.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint for presentations and data manipulation.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Self-starter who can learn to use new tools and find solutions – ability to troubleshoot & fix vehicle problems.
  • Outstanding leadership and written and verbal communication skills.

This position is a salary grade 5 and ranges from $65,100-$109,300.

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $74,300-$124,500.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900.

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
