Your role within the team

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Product Development Engineer to support the launch of a new, innovative, exciting product line within Zesty Paws.

As a Product Development Engineer, you will play a key role in transforming early product concepts into manufacturable, scalable, and market-ready products. You’ll work cross-functionally with sourcing and manufacturing as well as marketing teams to develop high-quality, safe, and engaging pet products. This role combines technical acumen, creativity, and a passion for pets.

Duties & responsibilities

• Collaborate with the relevant manufacturers and suppliers to translate product concepts into engineered prototypes and final designs.
• Evaluate materials, mechanisms, and manufacturing methods suitable for the product range.
• Develop CAD models, technical drawings, and tolerance specifications.
• Conduct testing and validation for durability, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Support pilot builds, reviews, and product trials.
• Troubleshoot design or manufacturing issues and implement improvements.
• Ensure documentation is complete, including assembly instructions, and product specifications etc.
• Stay up to date on emerging trends within the category and materials innovation.

Desired Skills & Experience

• 2+ years of experience in product development in toys.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo).
• Hands-on experience with prototyping techniques (3D printing, CNC, foam modeling).
• Understanding of mass production techniques (injection molding, sewing, die casting, etc.).
• Experience launching products from concept through mass production.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong relationship building skills, including the ability to work with all functions and teams
