Culbertson Resources Inc in the Houston area seeks an experienced Automotive Product Development Engineer to drive concept-to-production for automotive products and accessories. You will coordinate with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to meet quality, cost, and performance objectives.

Responsibilities include managing projects from concept through launch, supporting design, testing, validation, and production readiness, and driving VA/VE improvements. Onsite in Houston area.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5–7 years of related experience.
  • Experience with Stage Gate or similar product development processes.
  • Experience with VA/VE methodologies.
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Fusion 360, or similar.
  • Knowledge of automotive vehicle systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with automotive testing and validation.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including BOMs.
  • Participate in DFMEA, design verification, and validation activities.

  • Perform root cause analysis and support resolution of issues.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams on design and integration.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Product Development Engineer for an opportunity with an established organization in the greater Houston area.


This role will support the engineering development and launch of automotive products and accessories from concept through production. The engineer will work closely with cross‑functional teams and external suppliers to meet quality, cost, performance, and manufacturing objectives.


Responsibilities


  • Manage automotive product development projects from concept through launch

  • Support product design, testing, validation, and production readiness

  • Participate in Stage Gate and structured product development processes

  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including BOMs

  • Participate in DFMEA, design verification, and validation activities

  • Support new vehicle and product launch activities

  • Identify cost, quality, and process improvements through VA/VE and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Perform root cause analysis and support resolution of product and manufacturing issues

  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal engineering, quality, sourcing, and operations teams

  • Support design for manufacturability and product integration


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university required; Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field strongly preferred

  • 5–7 years of related experience

  • Experience with Stage Gate or similar product development processes

  • Experience with VA/VE methodologies

  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Fusion 360, or similar

  • Knowledge of automotive vehicle systems and manufacturing processes

  • Experience with automotive testing and validation

  • Strong problem‑solving and root cause analysis skills

  • Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills
