Job summary

ShapeCareers is seeking a Product Development Engineer I to lead new product development efforts for metal parts (BIW, frame) and verify engineering changes for current production. This role partners with customer vehicle teams to ensure design integrity and timely delivery.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's in Engineering and at least five years of development experience, including DFMEA and PPAPs. On-site in Novi, MI, with strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office.

Position Summary:

Responsible for new product development and associated engineering requirements, including design verification for engineering changes to current production products. Act as the company's engineering representative on Customer vehicle teams.

Essential position functions include, but is not limited to, the following:

• Meet requirements of PDE I job description
• Apply the fundamentals of mechanical theory, material properties, test protocols and basic manufacturing processes to daily projects.
• Develop component and system level product designs utilizing engineering applications in accordance with customer requirements.
• Interpret and understand customer inputs and communicate Shape outputs to customers.
• Maintain effective communication with internal and external customers to meet development timelines.
• Additional functions not specifically outlined in this position description as directed by the leader.
