Actalent is seeking an intermediate-level mechanical engineer for on-site work in Montgomery, AL. You will contribute to product design, development, and continuous improvement from concept through manufacturing release and field support.

The role requires CAD proficiency (SolidWorks/AutoCAD), GD&T, and 1–3 years in product or manufacturing engineering. Prior experience in metal fabrication environments is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline; ongoing continuing education in same.
• 1–3 years of experience in product design, mechanical engineering, or manufacturing engineering.
• Preferred: 3–5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally involving detention equipment, security hardware, doors/frames, or similar metal fabrication products.

• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes: fabrication, machining, welding, and electromechanical assembly.
• Understanding of materials, tolerances, and design-for-manufacturability principles.
• Basic understanding of root-cause analysis techniques (5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa).
• Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Proficient with standard office/engineering software: spreadsheets, word processing, PLM/document control systems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines. Physical Requirements Sitting, standing, walking, stooping, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Prolonged sitting when performing design and drafting work. Must have full use of the head and torso; ability to reach, grasp, bend, and flex arms, legs, wrists, and hands. Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
