Role Description

The Product Development Associate is a full-time, Hybrid role based in Brooklyn, NY. This position supports the end-to-end development of gift, stationery, and home décor products, from concept to launch. Day-to-day responsibilities include researching trends and materials, assisting in product design and specifications, coordinating samples and approvals, and tracking timelines and deliverables across the product lifecycle. The role involves close collaboration with design, sourcing, marketing, and operations teams to ensure products meet quality, cost, and brand standards. The Product Development Associate will also help maintain product documentation, analyze performance and feedback, and contribute ideas that enhance the product assortment.

The main responsibility of this position will be:
  • Writing production notes and details to be sent to design and production
  • Communicating with PD managers and factories to confirm detail specs and templates for production notes
  • Proofing production art and work with designer on any edits
Other responsibilities will be:
  • Organizing and maintenance of material, swatch, and embellishment libraries
  • Assisting with sourcing and costing
  • Maintenance and creation of development sample and retailer program trackers
  • Occasionally helping with sample comments & updating approval sample charts
  • Submitting own trend ideas for trend meetings
  • Managing project status list for task responsibilities
Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess skills in Product Development and Product Lifecycle Management to support concept creation, sampling, and product launches.
  • Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills to interpret data, evaluate product performance, and support decision-making.
  • Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Candidates should possess Project Management skills to organize tasks, manage timelines, and coordinate multiple product initiatives.
  • Relevant experience in consumer products, gifts, stationery, or home décor is beneficial, along with attention to detail and a strong sense of aesthetics.
  • A bachelor’s degree in product design, business, merchandising, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred.
  • Comfort with basic productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., spreadsheets, presentation software, project tracking systems) is advantageous.
