Job summary

KLA, Milpitas, CA, seeks a Product Applications Development Engineer to advance eBeam metrology apps for advanced semiconductor tech. You will design experiments, analyze data, and drive tool performance improvements across Overlay, CD, EPE, and process control.

You will collaborate across engineering, software, marketing and sales, deliver technical training, and support customers with complex metrology challenges in Logic, DRAM, NAND, and Advanced Packaging processes.

Qualifications

  • PhD or master's with research in metrology or semiconductor processes.
  • Experience leading projects from kickoff to completion with clear reporting.
  • Strong data/image analysis using common analytical tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver eBeam metrology applications for logic, memory and packaging tech.
  • Characterize tool performance and optimize measurement recipes.
  • Lead demonstrations, beta testing, and production qualifications with customers.

Based in Milpitas, CA, this position will be responsible for:Metrology expertThorough in-depth understanding of customer technologies and critical gapsDevelop, optimize, and qualify eBeam metrology applications for Overlay, CD, EPE, and process control.Design and execute characterization plans to evaluate tool performance, accuracy, precision, matching, and throughput.Lead customer demonstrations, evaluations, Head-to-Head (H2H) studies, beta testing, and production qualifications.Analyze semiconductor process and metrology data to identify process issues, develop solutions, and drive process control improvements.Develop measurement recipes, Best Known Methods (BKMs), technical documentation, and application reports.Troubleshoot customer issues and provide technical support for advanced semiconductor manufacturing applications.Collaborate with Product Engineering, Systems, Software, Algorithms, Marketing, and Sales teams to drive product improvements and new application development.Provide technical training and application expertise to customers, field engineers, and internal teams.Support technology development for advanced Logic, DRAM, NAND, and Advanced Packaging semiconductor processes.RequirementsMetrology expertThorough in-depth understanding of customer technologies and critical gapsKnowledge of optical CD, scatterometry, film metrology, and process characterization.Ability to work individually and in groupsMust have at least 2 years of proven experience with operating SEM and optical metrology systems in the semiconductor industryDemonstrated capability to lead projects from kick-off till completion, with clear planning and periodic/final reportingAbility to perform complex data/image analysis using data-analysis toolsExperience with Python, MATLAB, JMP, SQL, or similar analytical tools preferredMust have excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
