KLA is seeking a Senior eBeam Systems Design Engineer in Milpitas to lead design, modeling, and optimization of advanced electron beam systems used in semiconductor inspection and metrology platforms. The role requires deep electron optics expertise and hands-on experience with complex eBeam columns.
You will drive simulations, hardware observations, and system-level improvements, collaborating with multiple teams while independently leading high-impact projects and mentoring engineers.
To make electronics, you need chips, wafers, transistors, reticles, and... To make these, you must see, test and manufacture them at scale—faster and better than ever before. That's where KLA comes in. Whether you're early in your career or an experienced professional, you'll solve complex challenges, work alongside brilliant minds and help shape the future of technology.
The Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells KLA’s product portfolio to help chip manufacturers meet high-quality standards for technologies like AI, data centers, automotive and electronic devices. Our inspection, metrology, and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials. We also develop technologies for specialty processes, IC substrates, and PCB manufacturing, including etch and deposition, component inspection, and imaging and analytics. The Broadband Plasma (BBP) division is the market-leading optical inspection system used by logic, foundry, and memory customers to detect critical defects at advanced nodes. These tools combine broadband plasma technology with unmatched sensitivity and speed to support high-volume manufacturing.
In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise. We are seeking a highly experienced Senior eBeam Systems Design Engineer to lead the design, modeling, optimization, and performance improvement of advanced electron beam systems used in next-generation semiconductor inspection and metrology platforms. This role requires a unique combination of deep theoretical expertise in electron optics, strong systems engineering capability, and hands‑on experience working directly with complex eBeam columns and subsystems. The successful candidate will serve as both a designer and practical problem solver, leveraging simulation tools and real‑world system observations to improve performance, reliability, and imaging capability. As a technical leader, you will independently drive high-impact projects, collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, and communicate complex technical concepts to engineers, scientists, and leadership stakeholders.
A passion for solving challenging electron‑optics problems. The ability to combine theoretical modeling with hands‑on system evaluation. Strong ownership and accountability for technical outcomes. A collaborative mindset coupled with the ability to operate independently in highly complex technical environments. The capability to serve as a subject‑matter expert and technical leader for advanced eBeam technology development.
