Job summary

Funko, based in Burbank, CA, seeks a talented Technical Product Development lead for Loungefly accessories. You will manage the full product development lifecycle for ~30 new accessory styles monthly, guiding design handoff, technical development, costing, testing, and production approval.

You'll mentor associate developers, drive licensor approvals from concept to signoff, and maintain strong relationships with licensors, while collaborating with design, licensing, sourcing and QA to ensure

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Product Development, Technical Design, Industrial/Fashion Design, or related field, or 5+ years of relevant experience in accessories, apparel or footwear.
  • Proven ability to manage full product development lifecycle from design handoff to production.
  • Strong knowledge of accessories materials and manufacturing.
  • Experience with domestic and international factories and vendors.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, and PLM; familiarity with 3D development/CAD.

  • Provide Technical Design mentorship for Loungefly development.

  • Ensure assets meet licensor expectations and align with designs.
  • Create factory-ready tech packs with BOMs and instructions.
  • Serve as technical expert for factories and resolve questions.
  • Review samples and packaging for quality and licensor approval.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Compliance teams to identify risks.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the magic behind the product pipeline by managing development for roughly 30 new accessory styles each month. Will keep projects on track, flag risks early, and deliver production ready sample (with minimal supervision) to cross functional partners.
  • Bring the vision to life through consistent, clear, and proactive daily communication with Design, Licensing, factories, and cross functional partners aligning expectations, resolving issues early, and ensuring every product moves smoothly and efficiently from concept to creation
  • Own and strategically drive the Loungefly development calendar, ensuring alignment across design, licensing, approvals, sourcing, and production to deliver on-time, on-brand product launches.
  • Provides Technical Design mentorship for Loungefly development, guiding Associate Level Developers on soft goods construction, materials, trims, hardware, and production feasibility.
  • Champion the licensor approval journey by managing the full licensor approval workflow, including concept submissions in proprietary portals, sample approvals, packaging, and final production signoffs.
  • Strengthen and build licensor relationships by serving as the primary point of contact for assigned licensors fostering trusted and collaborative partnerships through clear communication, responsiveness, and a deep understanding of licensor goals, brand standards, and long term business objectives.
  • Partner with our art team to guarantee assets are delivered on time, meet licensor expectations, and align with initial design submissions, all while ensuring costs hit the mark.
  • Create detailed, factory ready tech packs that include materials, BOMs, EOQs, product instructions, and timelines. Will update and refine technical documents as products evolve.
  • Serve as the go to technical expert for factory partners, answering questions and clarifying specs and patternmaking, knowing what’s feasible and how to adjust to stay within manufacturing limits.
  • Review and approve all samples and packaging from silhouettes to stickers, providing clear feedback to ensure every detail is accurate, on-brand, high quality, and licensor approved before production.
  • Collaborate closely with the Quality and Compliance teams to identify risks early, resolve issues, coordinate product testing, and ensure documentation is complete across licensor platforms and internal systems.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Product Development, Technical Design, Industrial/Fashion Design, or related field, or 5+ years of relevant experience in accessories, apparel or footwear.
  • Proven ability to manage the full product development lifecycle, from design handoff and technical development through sampling, costing, testing, and production approval.
  • Strong ability to translate design intent into technically executable products, with expertise in accessories construction, measurements, materials, hardware, finishes, and functionality.
  • Strong knowledge of accessories materials and manufacturing, including leather, PU/synthetics, textiles, trims, hardware, embossing, printing, and related construction techniques.
  • Experienced in sample review and technical evaluation, identifying construction, measurement, workmanship, quality, and functional issues and providing clear, actionable factory comments.
  • Experience working directly with domestic and international factories and vendors, including tanneries, mills, and hardware/trim suppliers; skilled in troubleshooting, cost/value engineering, and manufacturability.
  • Working knowledge of product testing, quality standards, and performance requirements, with the ability to proactively identify and resolve material, construction, hardware, and production risks.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple styles and seasonal developments, partnering with Design, Merchandising, Sourcing, and QA to meet key development milestones.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, and PLM systems; experience with 3D development/CAD (CLO, Rhino, or similar) and licensed product development is a plus.
Salary Information

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $73,000-$92,000 annually. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
