Job description

True Love Accessories is a NYC-based wholesale fashion accessories company bringing the latest trends to life through fun, fresh, and seriously sellable product. From statement jewelry and must-have bags to hats, hair accessories, belts, cold weather, bag charms, slippers, and everything in between, we’re always creating what’s next.

With our finger on the pulse of fashion, pop culture, and emerging trends, we turn inspiration into exciting, trend-right collections designed to stand out at retail. We believe great product starts with great partnerships, which is why we work closely with our retailers to create the right mix of quality, creativity, and commercial appeal.

About the Role

We are looking for a creative, highly organized, and product-driven Product Developer / Designer / Merchandiser to join our team and help bring our portfolio of fashion brands to life.

This role is ideal for someone who understands both the creative and commercial sides of product—someone who can take a big-picture brand vision, develop compelling product concepts, and turn those ideas into finished products that are on-brand, trend-right, and commercially successful.

Working closely with the Creative Director, you will help develop the seasonal product vision and then take those concepts into the development process, working across design, sourcing, materials, samples, costing, and production to bring the ideas to market.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Partner closely with the Creative Director to develop core concepts, seasonal stories, and product directions for the brands
  • Translate creative concepts into specific, actionable product ideas and development briefs.
  • Research fashion, accessory, color, material, print, and consumer trends to identify new product opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain product assortments that balance creativity, brand identity, trend, and commerciality.
  • Work hands-on throughout the product development process—from initial concept through samples and final production.
  • Communicate clearly with factories, vendors, and internal teams to ensure the creative vision is executed accurately.
  • Review samples and provide detailed feedback on materials, construction, color, trims, embellishment, proportion, and overall design.
  • Help source and develop new materials, components, hardware, trims, prints, and techniques.
  • Create and maintain product development documents, including line lists, product specifications, sample tracking, costing and development timelines.
  • Identify opportunities to update, improve, and expand existing best-selling products.
  • Help build cohesive collections that tell a clear brand and seasonal story.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Act as a bridge between creative direction and execution, making sure great ideas actually become great products.
  • 3+ years of experience in product development, accessories, fashion, design, merchandising, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of the product development process from concept → sample → approval → production.
  • A highly creative eye with a strong understanding of fashion, trends, materials, color, and commercial product.
  • Someone who can look at a concept and immediately think about how to turn it into a product.
  • Strong merchandising instincts and an understanding of what makes a product commercially successful.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a Creative Director & team while also independently driving projects forward.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Comfortable communicating with overseas vendors and factories.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and photoshop and/or other relevant design/product development programs is a plus.
  • Experience with fashion accessories, belts, bags, scarves, jewelry, or other lifestyle products is highly desirable.

The ideal candidate is someone who is creative but highly execution-oriented.

You don’t just want to design something—you want to figure out how to make it, who it’s for, what it should cost, how it fits into the assortment, and how to make it better.

You should be someone who gets excited about taking a sketch, inspiration image, material, trend, or creative idea and asking:

“How do we turn this into a product people will actually want to buy?”

This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to have a meaningful impact on the development and evolution of multiple fashion brands and work closely with a creative team from initial idea all the way through the finished product.
