Job summary

Mattel, Inc. in El Segundo seeks a talented Designer to join the Global Barbie product design team.

You will translate consumer insights and trends into engaging toys and fashion lines, using 2D sketching and 3D concepts, collaborating with marketing, engineering, and packaging to ensure brand integrity. The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of professional design experience, proficiency in Photoshop/Illustrator, and a passion for current fashion trends.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree in Fashion Design, Toy Design or equivalent.
• Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator and 2D computer programs.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Adobe Creative Suite proficiency.
• Knowledge of 3D CAD (Alias, Rhino 3D is a plus).
• Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Actively generate new product opportunities to innovate and the brand.
• Execute on both Product Designs and Graphic Designs.
• Design and develop fashions, accessories, playsets and / or advertised lines or segments.
• Builds consensus between members throughout the design process.
• Partner with Development Design, Engineering, Packaging and Cost Engineering to ensure product integrity and marketing objectives.
• Daily communication with Asia partners.
• Successfully present and communicate their concepts to the design and marketing management and creative departments.
• Manage the early phases of design and development with other disciplines within the company.
