Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Lead Product Designer to own the end-to-end design process for our Baseten product, from research through implementation. You will collaborate with engineers and product managers to frame problems, prototype solutions, and ship features that delight users.

You will refine typography, layout, and interaction patterns, evolve the design system, and push cross-surface consistency. You’ll work directly with customers to validate ideas and iterate rapidly.

Qualifications

• Portfolio demonstrating strong visual and interaction design.
• Experience designing complex, technical, or developer-focused products.
• Ability to take ambiguous problems, understand customer needs, explore multiple approaches, and drive to a strong solution.
• Deep attention to typography, layout, hierarchy, interaction, and systems.
• Experience working directly with engineers and customers.
• Fast, prototype-early working style that uses learnings to iterate.
• Ability to think beyond individual features and improve patterns and systems across a product.
• Comfort with Git and VS Code.
• Interest in working directly in React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Unrestricted work authorization in the United States
• No current or future requirement for employment-based visa sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Lead product design end to end, including research, product definition, prototypes, design reviews, specs, and final implementation
• Work directly with engineering and product to frame problems, explore solutions, and ship quickly
• Collaborate with customers to understand their workflows, validate ideas, and test prototypes
• Push the visual and interaction quality of the Baseten product across surfaces
• Create interactions and details that make complex technical workflows feel clear, fast, and polished
• Evolve the design system and establish patterns that scale across a growing product
• Identify opportunities to improve consistency, usability, and overall product quality
• Get into the code with engineers to polish UI and ensure the shipped experience matches the design
• Help shape design-team processes and raise the bar for product quality across the company
