Job description

At 100, our mission is to bring trust, speed, and clarity to the rental experience. We deliver an end-to-end platform so property owners and operators can make faster, safer, and more accurate leasing decisions. We’re growing quickly and are looking for our first Product Designer to build the foundation of design at 100.

Role

As our first Product Designer, you'll own the end-to-end design experience across our applicant-facing app, agent dashboard, and internal operations tools. You'll work directly with product, engineering, and customer-facing teams to craft intuitive, accessible, and delightful experiences that reduce friction for renters and enable property managers to make confident decisions.

This is a high-leverage role where you'll:

  • Define 100's design system and visual identity from the ground up
  • Own the UI/UX for critical flows within the applicant and agent experience
  • Balance empathy for renters (who face high-friction, high-stakes moments) with the operational needs of leasing teams and operators
  • Ship fast without sacrificing craft - you'll be designing, prototyping, testing, and iterating in tight cycles
  • Establish design processes, tooling, and culture as the design function grows

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Own end-to-end design for applicant app, agent dashboard, and internal tools - from research through shipped product
  • Design and iterate on high-impact flows that reduce friction and improve conversion
Design systems & foundations

Build 100's design system from scratch: reusable components, interaction patterns, accessibility standards (WCAG AA), and mobile-first responsive layouts

Document design decisions and create Figma libraries that enable the team to ship consistently as we scale

Cross-functional collaboration

Partner with product and engineering in 2-week cycles to scope features, translate constraints into intuitive UX, and ship iteratively

Present design rationale to stakeholders; advocate for users while balancing business goals and technical feasibility

About You

You're a product designer who thinks like a product manager - you care deeply about user outcomes, business metrics, and shipping. You thrive in ambiguity, move fast, and aren't precious about your work. You're equally comfortable sketching lo-fi wireframes on a whiteboard in real-time as you are with polishing pixel-perfect UI in Figma.

Qualities
  • 3-5+ years as a product designer (B2B SaaS, fintech, proptech, or consumer apps with transactional flows).
  • Proven self-starter with the tenacity to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, and the scrappiness to develop solutions under pressure.
  • Expert in Figma; familiarity with prototyping tools and Adobe is a big plus!
  • Excellent visual design skills; understands typography, color theory, layout, and hierarchy.
  • Experience building or contributing to design systems; knows when to systematize, when to build custom, and when to move fast.
  • Proven ability to conduct user research (interviews, usability tests) and translate insights into design decisions.
  • Comfortable working directly with engineers; understands technical constraints and trade-offs.
Nice to have
  • Experience building B2B2C product flows, designing for both the business and consumer sides.
  • Familiarity with property management systems (RealPage, Yardi, Entrata) or multifamily operations
  • Experience designing for fraud prevention, identity verification, or trust & safety flows
  • Experience working at early-stage startups (seed to Series A)
Why Join 100?

Own the Design Function from Day One

  • This isn't a "design tickets handed to you" role. You'll define what good design looks like at 100, set the bar for craft, and build the processes that scale as we grow.

Solve Hard, Meaningful Problems

  • Rental applications are stressful, opaque, and dated. You'll design experiences that reduce friction for renters, eliminate bias, and bring transparency to a broken process.

Autonomy and Ownership

  • This isn't a role where you execute someone else's idea. You'll define and build the foundation to help us scale.

Grow as the Company Grows

  • This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to play a key role in a fast-moving tech startup. You'll get to focus your energy on the areas that make the biggest impact and where you're keen to develop.
