Overview
The Experience Design team at a global athletic footwear and apparel retailer is a group of designers, researchers, and writers rethinking how customers experience the brand across mobile app, responsive web, and in-store touchpoints. As a Product Designer on the Mobile App team, you'll shape the experience for the most loyal, highest-engagement customers — the app is where sneaker culture shows up first, from launches to loyalty.
Responsibilities
- Design native iOS and Android experiences from concept to execution for high-traffic, high-visibility app features that solve customer needs and drive the business forward.
- Partner with multi-disciplinary teams — product, engineering, research — to translate user needs, business requirements, and platform constraints into intuitive, engaging experiences.
- Design for app‑specific moments and capabilities.
- Follow a user‑centered, data‑driven design process to conceptualize and iterate on solutions, from sketches to wireframes to interactive prototypes.
- Design with the company's enterprise design system, and contribute mobile components, patterns, and documentation back to it as the system expands to app surfaces.
- Build accessible experiences by default, applying ADA, WCAG, and native platform accessibility standards throughout your work.
- Collaborate closely with mobile engineering through design‑to‑code workflows, reviewing builds against design specs and conducting QA across devices, OS versions, and screen sizes.
- Take ownership of assigned work from discovery through release, communicating status and rationale clearly to teammates and stakeholders.
- Participate actively in design critiques, giving and receiving constructive feedback to raise the bar on quality.
Qualifications
- 1-2+ years of product design experience with a focus on native mobile apps, preferably in e-commerce or retail.
- Strong portfolio featuring shipped iOS and/or Android work, showing several projects and your direct contributions.
- Familiarity with Human Interface Guidelines and Material Design, and an understanding of how native patterns differ from responsive web.
- Proficiency in Figma (including components, variants, variables, and design tokens).
- Working knowledge of accessibility standards and how to apply them on mobile.
- Experience designing within and contributing to a design system.
- Curiosity about AI‑assisted design workflows and an interest in using emerging tools to accelerate exploration, prototyping, and design‑to‑code handoff.
- Comfortable working with mobile engineers and understanding how design decisions translate into implementation and release cycles.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
