Job summary

BuildOS is seeking a Product Designer with 3–7 years of experience to be the founding design hire, defining the design language and user experience for the AI-driven process design platform. You will own design end-to-end across a data-rich application that includes 3D CAD visualization, structured data, and shop-floor workflows, starting hands-on with a clear path to leading a design team.

• Seed–Series B startup experience preferred.
• Experience designing dense, multi-view interfaces with structured data and workflows.
• Ability to prototype in React using AI-assisted coding tools.

Responsibilities

• Own the full design lifecycle from discovery to shipped product.
• Define and build design language, system, and patterns for engineers.
• Create high-fidelity mockups and clickable prototypes in Figma (and React).
• Design complex interfaces blending legacy data (BOMs, routings, work instructions) with 3D CAD visualization.
• Collaborate daily with CTO, product team, and engineers to prioritize design work and iterate toward v2.

Job description

We are looking for a Product Designer with 3–7 years of experience to be the founding design hire, defining the design language and user experience for BuildOS — the AI process design platform unifying engineering and manufacturing. You'll own design end-to-end across a complex, data-rich application that includes 3D CAD interaction, structured data authoring, and shop floor workflows. This is a rare opportunity to shape an entirely new software category from the ground up, working alongside a passionate team on a mission to reindustrialize the West. You'll start as a hands‑on IC shipping design immediately, with a clear path to building out and leading a design team as the platform's surface area expands into mobile and factory‑floor experiences.

What will you be doing?

• Own the full design lifecycle — from discovery and user research (including customer calls and factory visits) through mocks, prototyping, feedback loops, and shipped product.
• Define and build design language, design system, and component patterns so engineers have clear, consistent guidance on what to build.
• Create high‑fidelity mockups and clickable prototypes in Figma (and React with AI‑assisted coding tools) to unblock a fast‑moving engineering team that is waiting for design direction.
• Design complex, information‑dense interfaces that blend legacy structured data (BOMs, routings, work instructions) with novel 3D CAD visualization — making powerful workflows feel intuitive for both technical and non‑technical factory users.
• Collaborate directly with the CTO, product team, and engineers daily to prioritize design work, validate flows with real customers, and iterate rapidly toward v2 of the platform.

What we are looking for

• Designed complex, information-heavy B2B tools (e.g., CAD, PLM, data platforms, developer tools)
• Shipped end‑to‑end product design at a Seed–Series B startup
• Designs dense, multi‑view interfaces with structured data and complex workflows
• Can prototype in React using AI‑assisted coding tools
• High agency — self‑directs, ships fast, thrives in ambiguity
• Must be a U.S. Person (ITAR); no new visa sponsorship
