Job description

Who we are:

Alignable is the largest online network of small business owners, with over 9 million members across North America who discover that every relationship holds possibility. Our mission is to empower small businesses by helping them build trusted relationships and grow through referrals, connections, and community.

We don't just connect business owners—we help them unlock the hidden potential in their networks by showing them who knows the people they want to meet. When a bakery owner realizes their accountant knows three potential catering clients, or when a consultant discovers their neighbor can connect them to their dream customer—that's Alignable working.

Here's how it works:

Imagine you're a small business owner trying to find new customers. You know people, and they know people, but you can't see those second and third-degree connections that could change everything. Our platform reveals those hidden pathways—showing you exactly who in your network knows the people you want to meet. It's like having a map of all the business relationships around you that were previously invisible.

What makes us different:

Unlike other networking platforms that feel forced or transactional, Alignable focuses on authentic relationship-building. We've created a space where small business owners naturally help each other grow through genuine connections, referrals, and shared expertise. It's networking that actually works because it's built on trust and mutual success.

Our impressive growth (the numbers speak for themselves):

9+ million small business owners across North America trust our platform

30,000+ local communities where meaningful business relationships flourish

20,000+ new members join us every week to unlock their network potential

Series C and profitable—we're scaling rapidly while building sustainably

What you will be doing:

We’re looking for a Product Designer who’s passionate about helping small businesses succeed to join our team at an exciting time of transformation. Alignable has recently evolved from a social platform into a powerful SaaS product that enables small business owners to network smarter and grow faster. In this role, you’ll help shape tools and experiences that connect members with the right partners and customers, surface meaningful insights, and drive real business outcomes.

As a Product Designer, you’ll lead design within a cross-functional squad, collaborating closely with Product Management, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, and Marketing to deliver intuitive, high-impact solutions. You’ll use your UX and UI expertise to craft seamless, user-friendly experiences that simplify networking and empower small business owners to thrive. Through regular engagement with our members, you’ll uncover their needs and turn insights into thoughtful design improvements that deliver value for both users and the business.

As an early member of our Product Design team, you’ll also influence how we work—refining design processes, shaping team culture, and championing user-centered thinking across the company. This is a unique opportunity to take on complex design challenges in a product that’s redefining how small businesses build relationships and grow through smarter networking.

What success looks like:
  • Champion UX: Advocate for user-centric design across teams, from early concepts to final execution.
  • Understand Members: Regularly engage with SMB users to translate their needs into intuitive, impactful designs.
  • Iterate Fast: Thrive in a dynamic environment with quick design cycles and constant learning.
What you will bring:
  • 2–4 years of UX/Product Design experience creating consumer-facing products (experience with small business (SMB) users strongly preferred; enterprise-only experience is not a fit).
  • Experience working on mobile-first, usability-focused designs across web and mobile platforms.
  • A strong online portfolio showcasing shipped, user-centric designs, with clear case studies demonstrating your process, decisions, and impact.
  • A strong sense of visual storytelling and communication through design.
  • Proven success working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Marketing in a product-led, fast-paced environment.
  • Exposure to conversion funnels or designing with business metrics/KPIs in mind is a plus.
  • Background in communication or marketing design is a bonus.
  • Figma proficiency and experience with design systems.
  • A growth mindset, ownership mentality, and strong communication skills.
  • Experience designing for social networking or referral-driven platforms is a plus.
Core Skills You Must Have:
  • User Research: Skilled in gathering, conducting, and applying insights to drive design decisions.
  • Wireframing & Prototyping: Ability to quickly develop and iterate on concepts.
  • User Journey Mapping & Requirements Gathering: Turn user and business needs into intuitive experiences.
  • User Testing: Plan, conduct, and synthesize testing for continuous improvement.
  • Data-Informed Design: Comfortable working with analytics and behavioral data to refine UX.
  • Empathy for SMB Users: Able to design simple, elegant experiences for non-tech-savvy small business owners.
  • Context Switching: Manage multiple projects, both strategic and tactical, and connect the dots between micro and macro UX.
Why choose Alignable: Your growth, Our mission
  • Mission-Driven Impact: Lead critical initiatives at a profitable Series C company that's already helping 9+ million small business owners thrive, with 20,000+ new members joining weekly—your work directly impacts millions of entrepreneurs while growing your career alongside our rapid expansion
  • Exceptional Remote-First Culture: Join highly collaborative cross-functional teams where everyone engages directly with our small business community, guided by experienced leadership from Invisalign, Constant Contact, and Vistaprint—work from anywhere (as long as you maintain east coast U.S. working hours) and meaningful mentorship opportunities
  • Competitive Total Compensation: Enjoy competitive salary plus meaningful equity through stock options (you have ownership stake in our success), comprehensive health/dental/vision insurance with 90% coverage, unlimited PTO with mandatory 2-week breaks, flexible working hours, paid parental leave, $500+ new hire home office setup, 100% professional development reimbursement, and 401(k) program
  • Inclusive Growth Environment: Be part of a team that celebrates diversity like the small business community we serve, with core values emphasizing psychological safety, continuous learning, and bringing your authentic self to work while making a real difference in the world
Our culture in action:
  • Enjoy the Journey: We're passionate about our mission but don't take ourselves too seriously. We celebrate customers, teammates, and key moments.
  • Be Stronger Together: We combine strengths, build trusted relationships, and treat everyone as partners. No egos welcome.
  • Be Different Together: We create space for everyone to show up as their truest selves and seek diverse perspectives.
  • Act Like an Owner: We proactively act on behalf of the entire company and customers, not just ourselves. No passing the buck.
  • Change the Game: We start with first principles, assume nothing is impossible, and go after 10x outcomes relentlessly.
  • Adapt & Evolve: We accept we won't be right every time and create an environment where people feel safe to admit failure and lean into learning.
  • Exercise Excellent Judgment: We turn knowledge into understanding based on equal parts data and intuition.
  • Profound Bias for Action: Speed matters. We value calculated risk-taking while avoiding one-way doors.
  • Be Customer Obsessed: We work vigorously to earn and keep customer trust in everything we decide to work on and how we do it.
