Description

We are looking for a talented Product Design Technician to join our team specializing in Engineering at our Cummins Inc. facility in Rocky Mount, NC.

As part of a formal apprenticeship or regional training program, you will assist Product Design Technicians in developing the skills necessary to obtain a regionally applicable Certification as an Experienced Technician (e.g., US Department of Labor). You will perform work independently to support area needs during work rotations in other applicable teams.

In this role, you will make an impact by:

  • Ensuring Model and Drawing Quality: Developing your ability to ensure accuracy and reliability of engineering models and drawings.
  • Creating and Maintaining Product Specifications: Learning to utilize Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) for creating precise specifications.
  • Utilizing CAD Data Management Tools: Using CAD tools for configuration control and security of design data.
  • Applying Standards: Gaining knowledge of relevant standards to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Processing Engineering Work Requests: Learning to handle work requests efficiently to support workflows.
  • Engaging with Functional Areas: Collaborating across teams to ensure comprehensive project development.
  • Attending Classes and Training Programs: Committing to ongoing learning and skill development.
  • Continuous Improvement: Staying updated with latest tools and standards to drive innovation.

This is an estimate; final salary depends on qualifications and experience. Salary range: $19.23 - $28.85 per hour.

Primary Description Of Duties And Characteristics

This is a 100% onsite role focused on addressing product issues impacting the Rocky Mount Engine Plant's production lines. It involves hands-on problem solving, interfacing with multiple software environments, and working under time constraints. The role requires creating presentations to communicate issues and solutions, working collaboratively, and demonstrating a responsible, self-motivated attitude geared toward continuous improvement and personal growth. Proficiency with Cummins-specific software (IMS, COLS, CMES), MS Office, SharePoint, Windchill, Creo, and other tools is essential.
