Job summary

Stoughton Trailers, LLC is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead design and development of trailer components and assemblies. You will manage drawings, BOMs, and updates for configurator tools, coordinating with manufacturing to ensure producible, high-quality designs.

The role requires strong FEA and structural analysis skills, plus experience with SolidWorks and cross-functional project leadership across engineering, purchasing, and sales.

Qualifications

• Product Line Ownership - Manages product line and options that we offer to customers through sales.Keeps drawings and attributes up-to-date and working with the trailer configurator Ruler quoting tool.Manages ECRs for Product Line and assigned accounts.
• Order Release Team Support - Engineering options and definingbillofmaterials to complete customer orders on time.
• Manufacturing Support -Support all production lines that build the engineers product.Direct or coordinatebuildingof prototype systems or products. Work with Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering toestablishor improve manufacturing processes and procedures. Ensure that products are being made to plan andassistin preventing oreliminatingdefects.
• Leads the project definition, planning, and approval ofidentifiedprojectsdemonstratingthe feasibility of designs considering cost, market requirements, time limitations, planning, existing manufacturingprocessesand other technical and economic factors.
• Serve asprojectleadershipfor severalmedium to largeproduct development projects andoverseesmultipleprojects for comprehensive introduction to the facility and product line.
• Collectcross-functionalinternal and external voice ofcustomertoestablishproduct specifications, performance requirements, and datausedtodeterminethe feasibility of proposals.
• Conceptual Design -Lead the development offunctional designs,involving stakeholder feedback from purchasing, sales, manufacturing, and engineering.
• Responsible for leading team members across multiple functions to solve complex problems associated with product design, field failures, validation, and production challenges.
• Demonstrates ability to mentor or train team members in more complex engineering systems or processes related to Design, Analysis, or Testing.
• Analysis -Intermediate toAdvancedcapabilityin structural mechanics.Understand and apply Finite Element Analysis and strength of materials at thecomponentand system level to ensure structural integrity and regulatory compliance.
• Sales/Quote Information - Generate materials list for estimating purposes. Provide technicalinformation tosales andmarketingfortrainingthe sales force.
• Vendor Interaction - Work with vendors to evaluate and select components. Inspectqualityof supplied components for compliance with requirements.
• Contribute to theteameffort to produce a quality product.
• Perform all assigned tasks in a safe, efficient,timely,accurateand highly productive manner according to Company policy.
• Follow Company policies and procedures.
• Other duties may be assigned as required by the Company.

Qualifications

• Education: Minimum ofanBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineeringor equivalent
• Licenses/Certifications:
• GD+T - Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• PreviousTrailer Design, and/orDry VanProduct Designexperience a plus
• 7+ years ofexperiencein a similar fielda plus
• Basic skillsin finite element analysis (FEA)and structural analysis
• Demonstrated ability to Innovate and create.
• High levelof communication - Multilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Proficient inMS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, CAD software(Solidworks), FEA software(Solidworks), project tracking software
• Project planning techniques
• 3 to 5 years' experience inleadingmedium sizecross functional projects (6 month+ duration)
• Experience designing welded, bolted, riveted, and bonded fabricated assemblies.
• Knowledge of material science for steel, aluminum, composites
