Job description

The Senior Engineer, Product Engineering, CPE leads moderately complex current product engineering activities for released Quick Disconnect Couplings and related fluid conveyance components used in Data Center and Fluid Conveyance applications. The role provides technical leadership for product, manufacturing, quality, supplier, and customer issues; supports engineering changes, qualification maintenance, reliability improvement, and documentation control; mentors less experienced engineers; and delivers technical recommendations that protect safety, reliability, compliance, manufacturability, and customer confidence.

About the Role

This role leads standard to moderately complex CPE work packages within released product support, customer and manufacturing issue resolution, qualification evidence, engineering change execution, product risk reduction, cost-out support, and lifecycle improvement activities. The Senior Engineer, Product Engineering, CPE contributes to faster issue closure, stronger technical evidence, improved product reliability, better alignment between specifications and real customer use, improved documentation robustness, and effective cross-functional support to production sites, suppliers, quality teams, and customers.

Responsibilities
  • Lead assigned CPE work packages for released Quick Disconnect Couplings, couplings, connectors, adapters, manifolds, and related fluid conveyance components.
  • Investigate moderately complex product, manufacturing, quality, supplier, or customer issues using structured problem solving, fact-based analysis, test evidence, field data, production feedback, and risk assessment.
  • Serve as a technical leader for medium CPE projects or multiple smaller product support actions, coordinating expectations, plans, requirements, timing, and deliverables within the assigned scope.
  • Prepare, review, or approve drawings, specifications, test requests, test reports, product documentation, engineering change inputs, risk summaries, and technical evidence within the assigned authority level.
  • Lead or support engineering changes, design improvements, cost-out activities, manufacturability improvements, alternate material reviews, supplier changes, production transfers, and customer-specific technical requests.
  • Coordinate cross-functional inputs from test lab, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Product Management, Sales, suppliers, and customers to drive assigned technical actions to closure.
  • Analyze test results, drawings, specifications, field data, production feedback, customer requirements, and product documentation to identify risks, gaps, root causes, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Define or support pressure, leak, flow, cleanliness, compatibility, sealing, durability, duty-cycle, lifetime, and reliability evaluations for released products.
  • Support qualification maintenance, certification evidence, product compliance inputs, customer-facing technical evidence, and product risk reviews for released products as assigned.
  • Participate in NPD design reviews and lifecycle reviews to transfer current product lessons learned, manufacturing feedback, field performance data, customer-use assumptions, and released product risks into future designs.
  • Maintain robust traceability of technical evidence, test data, qualification records, decision history, engineering changes, and documentation control for assigned CPE activities.
  • Coach, mentor, and train less experienced engineers or technicians on QDC product knowledge, CPE methods, test practices, documentation expectations, and technical reasoning.
  • Lead continuous improvement of CPE processes, standard work, test templates, lessons learned, engineering documentation quality, and cross-site collaboration.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, product engineering, engineering science, or a related technical field required; master’s degree or advanced technical education preferred.
  • Relevant experience in current product engineering, product support, manufacturing support, product development, quality support, fluid conveyance, thermal management, couplings, connectors, pressure-boundary components, or similar engineered products.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead moderately complex technical work packages, coordinate project tasks, communicate requirements, and deliver technical recommendations with limited supervision.
  • Experience applying structured problem solving, data analysis, DFSS or Lean methods, test planning, engineering change processes, and engineering documentation practices preferred.
  • Awareness of external trends, customer application needs, reliability expectations, IP opportunities, publications, university relations, or external technical collaboration preferred.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to internal and external stakeholders through reports, presentations, project reviews, manufacturing support discussions, and customer support inputs.
Required Skills
  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, product design, product qualification, technical documentation, testing, measurement methods, and engineering change processes.
  • Developing specialized knowledge of QDC and connector product engineering, including coupling architecture, sealing principles, pressure integrity, leak performance, flow performance, cleanliness, compatibility, duty cycle, reliability, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Ability to plan and execute tests, analyze data, evaluate trade-offs, identify root causes, assess risks, and develop practical engineering recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of DFSS, Lean, FRACAS, 8D, DFMEA/PFMEA linkage, PPAP expectations, certification support, traceability, risk-based testing, and customer requirements.
  • Ability to use relevant engineering tools, test equipment, CAD viewers or CAD tools, data analysis tools, spreadsheets, and standard office applications to support technical decisions.
Preferred Skills
  • Senior Engineering Manager CPE QDC, CPE teammates, less experienced engineers, technicians, and technical leaders.
  • Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, CI, EHS, and production sites.
  • Test lab, product compliance, NPD, R&D, and documentation teams.
  • Product Management, Sales, Customer teams, and selected customer technical contacts.
  • Suppliers, certification contacts, manufacturing sites, external technical partners, and technical communities when assigned.
Pay range and compensation package

Delivery of assigned CPE work packages, investigations, documentation updates, test requests, reports, and engineering change inputs within agreed timing and quality expectations.
