Job summary

Talis Group, Inc. is seeking a Product Design Engineer in Indiana to develop and refine consumer-mechanical products from concept to production.

The role requires 1–2 years in product design, proficiency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo), and a collaborative mindset to work with engineering, manufacturing, marketing and sales. Hybrid work is available after training, with one day remote.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 1–2 years of product design and development experience.
  • Experience with 3D design tools like SolidWorks or Creo.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new products and changes meeting specs and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, marketing and sales through the lifecycle.
  • Create BOMs and documentation to support manufacturing.
  • Conduct prototype testing and validate designs with insights.
  • Manage design and redesign processes to meet deadlines and budget.
  • Support future product planning and identify market trends.
  • Provide specs for all technical materials.
  • Participate in tradeshows as needed.

The client is hiring a talented and motivated Product Design Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the development of new products and the enhancement of existing ones. Working cross‑functionally with various teams, the Product Design Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of new product development, from conceptualization to production.

Highlighted Duties
  • Develop new products and implement changes to existing products, ensuring they meet design specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and sales throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Create comprehensive bill of materials (BOM) and documentation to support manufacturing processes.
  • Work closely with the team to conduct prototype testing and validation, providing valuable insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage the design and redesign process, ensuring project deadlines and costs are met while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Assist in future product planning and mapping, identifying market trends and opportunities for innovation.
  • Provide specification support for all product related technical materials.
  • Participate in tradeshows as needed.
Highlighted Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 1‑2 years of product design and development.
  • Must have 3D product design experience (SolidWorks, Creo, etc).
    Consumer product design experience preferred.
  • Experience with sheet metal, welded assemblies, plastics a plus.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage resources effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and disciplines.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials, with a focus on cost‑effective and sustainable solutions.
  • Passion for innovation and continuous improvement, with a keen interest in emerging technologies and industry trends.
