• Drive continuous improvement of engineering design practices, procedures, and standards.
• Implement product redesigns to improve manufacturability, reduce costs, and mitigate potential field issues.

Overview

An established and growing organization is seeking a Product Design Engineer to join its Quality & Engineering team.

This role is responsible for driving the product design process through all phases of the product lifecycle, from conceptualization and prototyping through manufacturing and production support.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for manufacturing, production, suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
• Prepare design layouts, specifications, engineering investigations, calculations, failure analyses, root cause analyses, and FEA studies.
• Contribute insights related to materials, color specifications, packaging, cost optimization, product portfolio development, and new business opportunities.
• Develop new product concepts and create designs using 2D drawings, 3D CAD models, renderings, and supporting documentation.
• Modify and improve existing products to meet market demands and customer requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering design practices, procedures, and standards.
• Implement product redesigns to improve manufacturability, reduce costs, and mitigate potential field issues.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 2 to 5 years of experience in product design, engineering, or drafting.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and product development methodologies.
• Experience with SolidWorks and strong proficiency in mechanical drawings.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Problem-solving skills utilizing 2D drawings, 3D CAD modeling, rapid prototyping, and finite element analysis (FEA).
• Strong technical writing skills, including experience creating product documentation and instructional materials.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively across all organizational levels, including senior leadership.

Preferred

• Experience designing plastic components and assemblies.
• Familiarity with manufacturing materials and production processes.
• Exposure to international manufacturing and sourcing environments.
• Knowledge of metallurgy and material selection.
