Position Summary
Belltec Industries is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Product/Mechanical Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This position is responsible for the design, analysis, development, documentation, and continuous improvement of construction attachments and related products.
The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with advanced SolidWorks (3D design) expertise, practical manufacturing knowledge, engineering analysis capabilities, and excellent technical communication skills. This role will support products from concept through production while maintaining engineering documentation, design standards, and configuration control processes.
Primary Responsibilities
Product Development & Design
- Lead the design and development of new products from concept through production release.
- Develop innovative solutions for construction, utility, and off-highway equipment applications.
- Create complex 3D models, assemblies, weldments, and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
- Design welded steel structures and mechanical systems with a strong focus on durability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Generate and maintain detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, weldment drawings, and bills of materials.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, quality, sales, and suppliers throughout the product lifecycle.
- Participate in design reviews, prototype evaluations, and product testing.
- Perform engineering calculations to validate product performance and safety.
- Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using SolidWorks Simulation or equivalent software.
- Analyze structural integrity, stress, fatigue, weld performance, and deflection under operational loading conditions.
- Evaluate and implement design improvements based on analytical and field performance data.
Data Management & Change Control
- Manage engineering documentation through SolidWorks PDM or equivalent product data management systems.
- Support engineering change request (ECR) and engineering change notice (ECN) processes.
- Maintain revision control and engineering records.
- Assist in developing and improving engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.
Manufacturing Support
- Partner with manufacturing personnel to resolve design and production issues.
- Support fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, and quality processes.
- Work with suppliers and vendors to ensure drawing packages and engineering requirements are clearly communicated.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Minimum 5 years of mechanical design and product development experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks.
- Strong experience with welded structural steel design and fabrication.
- Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Strong understanding of ASME drafting standards and GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
- Experience with engineering change management processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Experience designing construction equipment, agricultural equipment, heavy machinery, attachments, or off-highway equipment.
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems.
- Project management experience utilizing Smartsheet, MS Project, or similar.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems and power transmission components.
- Experience supporting product testing and validation programs.
