Job summary

JFC Staffing Companies is seeking a Product Design and Architecture Engineer to translate modular architecture into manufacturable CAD models for a scalable product platform. You will work with manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet DFM and DFA requirements and support early prototyping.

You will lead top-down design, manage variants, and collaborate across Product Development, Project Management, Sales, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Quality Assurance to deliver robust, cost-effective

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Over 5 years of experience in electro-mechanical manufacturing.
  • Experience with top-down design and managing product variants.

Responsibilities

  • Develop modules and subsystems based on modular design principles, managing interfaces and variant rules.
  • Publish detailed 3D models, assemblies and 2D drawings, supporting change management and documentation.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and sourcing teams to incorporate DFM and DFA insights.
  • Lead risk assessment activities such as DFMEA and PFMEA related to modular design.
  • Assist with prototype builds, validation and support during product launches.

Are you a skilled mechanical engineer with a passion for bridging innovative design and practical manufacturing? As a Product Design and Architecture Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in translating strategic architecture into tangible CAD models that manufacturing teams can bring to life. Key Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Over 5 years of experience in an electro-mechanical manufacturing setting
  • Proven expertise in top-down design methodologies with experience managing product variants and options
  • Advanced CAD proficiency (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD) and familiarity with PDM systems (Vault or similar)
  • Ability to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams including Product Development, Project Management, Sales, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Quality Assurance
  • Strong skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and excellent technical communication abilities
Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop modules and subsystems based on modular design principles, carefully managing interfaces, envelopes, and variant rules
  • Maintain clarity in module structures and support configuration via rules-based tools or configurators (experience with PALMA is advantageous)
  • Create and publish detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings, while supporting change management and downstream documentation
  • Collaborate early with manufacturing and sourcing teams to incorporate Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) insights, safeguarding cost and buildability
  • Lead risk assessment activities such as DFMEA and PFMEA related to modular design and interface modifications
  • Assist with prototype builds, validation, and support during product launches to ensure design requirements are met efficiently
