Job description

Riverbend Energetics Mfg., LLC | Alton, Illinois | Engineering Department Reports to: Product Engineering Manager Employment type: Full-time, On-Site Compensation: $70,000–$95,000 annually, plus benefits

About The Role

The Product Data Management (PDM) Specialist owns the accuracy, integrity, and control of Riverbend Energetics' product technical data — serving as the critical bridge between Engineering and the rest of the business. This role ensures that drawings, specifications, bills of material, and item master data in our Deltek Costpoint ERP system consistently reflect the current approved product configuration. If you are a detail-driven professional who thrives at the intersection of engineering data, configuration management, and production support, this role offers meaningful work in a technically demanding and mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Data Management
  • Maintain controlled engineering documentation — including drawings, specifications, process documents, and technical data packages (TDPs) — in accordance with customer contract requirements and internal procedures.
  • Receive, review, log, and archive government-furnished and customer-supplied technical data; track revision status and distribution.
  • Ensure proper marking, handling, and access control of export-controlled (ITAR) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
Production Documentation Development
  • Author and maintain visual work instructions, assembly aids, and process documentation that translate engineering intent into clear, accurate, production-floor guidance.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers, Production supervisors, and Quality to ensure work instructions reflect the current approved product configuration and process requirements.
  • Update affected work instructions and assembly documentation as part of the engineering change process, ensuring production has current, accurate guidance at all times.
  • Apply consistent formatting standards and document control practices across all production documentation.
ERP Data Maintenance
  • Create and maintain part and item master records, bills of material (BOMs), and routings in Deltek Costpoint.
  • Ensure ERP data matches released engineering documentation at all times, including part numbers, revisions, units of measure, make/buy codes, and approved sources.
  • Perform periodic audits of ERP product data; identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support Production, Planning, and Supply Chain users with questions related to item and BOM data.
Configuration and Change Management
  • Administer the engineering change process — including ECRs, ECNs, and ECOs — by routing for approval, tracking status, and implementing approved changes across documentation and ERP.
  • Maintain configuration baselines and revision history for all products under contract.
  • Coordinate with Quality on document control requirements under AS9100 Rev D; support internal, customer, and third-party audits.
Process Improvement
  • Develop and refine procedures, templates, and reports that strengthen data quality and reduce manual effort.
  • Participate in initiatives to improve data integration between engineering tools and enterprise systems.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Information Systems, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience
  • 2–5 years of experience in product data management, configuration management, document control, or engineering data administration in a manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience creating and maintaining item master, BOM, and routing data in an ERP system
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience developing or maintaining work instructions, assembly documentation, or other production-facing technical documents
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including lookups, pivot tables, and data validation
  • Strong attention to detail and a disciplined, consistent approach to data accuracy
  • U.S. person status required (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) due to access to ITAR-controlled technical data
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience with Deltek Costpoint
  • Background in aerospace, defense, or energetics manufacturing
  • Familiarity with AS9100, configuration management standards (e.g., SAE EIA-649), and DoD technical data standards (e.g., MIL-STD-31000, ASME Y14.100)
  • Working knowledge of ITAR, CUI handling requirements, and CMMC frameworks
  • Experience with PDM/PLM software or SQL-based reporting tools
  • Proficiency with visual work instruction authoring platforms (e.g., Dozuki, ETQ, or similar)
  • Configuration management certification (e.g., CMPIC or IpX CM2)
