Job summary

Morningstar is seeking a Business Data Analyst to drive analytics across Morningstar Investor and Morningstar.com, building KPIs, dashboards, and forecasting models. You will own data pipelines, collaborate with engineering, and surface insights to optimize acquisition and retention.

You will work with SQL, GA, Looker Studio, and AWS to deliver data-driven recommendations and financial projections, supporting product and marketing strategies.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience in data analytics or business intelligence
• Strong experience in SQL for querying and analyzing large datasets
• Proficiency in Google Marketing Platform (Google Analytics, Google Ads, Looker Studio)
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, QuickSight, Looker Studio)
• Strong analytical skills including financial modeling, forecasting, and trend analysis
• Ability to clean, structure, and interpret large datasets to generate actionable insights
• Strong problem-solving skills and translating data into business recommendations
• Experience with AWS (Athena, Redshift, QuickSight) for data analysis
• Familiarity with A/B testing tools and tracking platforms
• Programming experience in Python or R
• Knowledge of subscription-based business models and customer retention metrics

Responsibilities

• Track and analyze KPIs daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly to measure product performance
• Build and evolve dashboards monitoring trials, subscriber growth, page views, engagement, and on-site behavior
• Consolidate data from diverse sources (Google suite, Redshift, Stripe, AWS) to create automated reporting
• Collaborate with engineering to surface and analyze insights
• Monitor and validate data from third-party sources for accuracy
• Define baseline targets and use data-driven insights to optimize acquisition and retention
• Conduct cohort analysis, LTV modeling, and retention analysis to inform product investment
• Develop and maintain forecasting models to project revenue growth and subscription trends
