Toast is seeking an experienced Product Counsel to support its Payroll & Team Management suite. This role involves advising cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance with complex regulatory environments, and enhancing the user experience through proactive legal guidance. A J.D. and significant legal experience, especially in tech or HR services, are essential.

This Line of Business (LOB) is dedicated to improving team engagement, retention, and operational effectiveness for our customers and their team members.
We are hiring an experienced Product Counsel to join our Legal team. As Counsel, Toast Payroll & Team Management Suite, you will support the Toast Payroll & Team Management business unit, which offers a suite of back-office customer solutions, including but not limited to payroll, tips management, scheduling, and more. The Toast Payroll & Team Management business unit is transforming the way restaurants and retailers manage and connect with their employees.
As Counsel, Toast Payroll & Team Management Suite, you will collaborate directly with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, Marketing, Compliance, and Sales. In doing so, you will gain a deep understanding of Toast's products, strategies, and processes to offer pragmatic legal advice and help the business identify and mitigate potential legal risks.
Toast offers remote and hybrid work flexibility. Our Legal & Compliance teams are primarily concentrated in Boston, Chicago, New York, Washington DC, and San Francisco. Candidates residing in these areas will benefit from closer proximity to colleagues and greater access to company resources and events.

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions, if eligible), benefits, and equity (if eligible).
Pay Range
$137,000—$219,000 USD
