Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a cost-focused engineer to guide costing for moderately complex product development. You will set future cost estimates for ROI, provide data to engineering, marketing, and finance, and drive cost reduction through supplier coordination and DFMA principles.

Qualifications

Degree in engineering/industrial technology or finance.
3+ years in costing future product, development or cost-related roles.
Ability to manage multiple projects.
Ability to read, comprehend and apply engineering specifications and blueprints.
Understanding of manufacturing processes, BOMs, product structures.
Understanding of value engineering and DFMA principles.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication and ability to influence leaders.
Intermediate Excel with knowledge of Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.

Responsibilities

Provide cost information and options during design decisions.
Manage product cost to target on moderately complex projects.
Set future cost estimates for ROI calculations.
Prepare supporting docs for project milestones.
Provide analyzed cost data to Engineering, Marketing, and Finance for budgeting/pricing.
Coordinate regular interaction with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
Lead cost avoidance and cost reduction initiatives.
