Job summary

MarketAxess is seeking a Product Associate to join its core trading product team. You will partner with the Product Manager to define features, approve stories, manage the backlog, and communicate across stakeholders to deliver high-quality products.

You’ll become a subject matter expert in fixed income trading, collaborate with engineers and UX, and translate data insights into actionable product improvements. This role emphasizes agile delivery, stakeholder alignment, and strategic thinking.

Qualifications

• 2+ years working in product, project or business analysis roles.
• Strong experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and defining scope of work for development teams.
• Demonstrable ability to work in a team environment.
• Experience in Agile delivery techniques, including sprint planning, backlog management, and iterative development.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to drive product decisions and improve performance.
• Experience in financial services sector/fixed income.
• Recent experience of OMS/EMS API integration with trading venues.
• Fundamental understanding of database design, including working knowledge of SQL.
• Exposure to API-driven development and technical product considerations.
• Understanding of AI product development principles, including model evaluation, experimentation, user adoption, data quality, and responsible AI considerations.
• Experience defining, delivering, or supporting AI-enabled product capabilities, including machine learning, generative AI, predictive analytics, intelligent automation, or data-driven decision support solutions.

Responsibilities

• Learn quickly and become a subject matter expert in fixed income trading and Agile culture.
• Prioritize backlog to support product strategy; write, refine, and prioritize user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
• Work with Product Managers to ensure coherent, high-quality products delivered at pace.
• Collaborate with engineering, UX, and business teams for alignment on feature development.
• Work with developers and QA to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, and validate feature completion.
• Analyze user and market data to drive product usage and produce insightful sales material.
• Define and track key product performance metrics to drive improvements.
• Showcase progress to large groups through demos and walkthroughs of client case studies and product previews.
• Support the head of product management in tracking KPI to measure ROI/success.
• Attend meetings with investor clients or dealers and provide product expertise.
• Assess emerging AI technologies, market trends, and competitive offerings to inform strategy.
